@Gargron I would find it interesting where / on what hardware / at what cost an instance is hosted, as well as how/by whom the expenses are covered. Also, some hints on the motivation for creating an instance and (hopefully) longterm commitment to maintain it would be useful. Not sure all of this fits in a 'short description', though. Not entirely sure how to tell feed readers that the inline image is a custom emoji and should not be stretched as wide as possible. CSS classes are meaningless and inline styles get stripped or modified. Would be nice to get something like rel=emoji going. @Gargron dope track. not my usual but it's pretty nice. Tells a story, has a neat visual (the triangle glows pink roughly during the chorus/refrains)

@Gargron @sean That's one way to look at it, yes definitely; another though is to see it as practical (yet experimental) collaborative development towards social posts and social graph as migratable digital assets, and attempt at separating free speech from free reach... All still pie-in-the-sky (pun kinda intended), but still though. @Gargron it is much worse than activitypub as it is implemented today in terms of assured deniability 🙃 Mastodon has a verification mechanism, though it looks different from Twitter's. We do not ask for your documents. Instead, if you have a website that you are known by, you can verify that you are the owner of that website. Link to your Mastodon profile from the website, either through a visible link, or through a <link> tag in the head of the document, with a rel=me attribute, and link back to that page from your Mastodon profile. It should then get a green checkmark, like @Mastodon.

Mastodon's Android app is now at 43,362 installs, getting us ever so closer to making us tip over from that "10,000+" text on the Play Store to "50,000+"

I was asked to do a video interview, but in the end they couldn't send a crew to where I live. I know the interview would be good for Mastodon, but I am so relieved I don't have to do it 😅

New iOS app release is waiting for Apple review! It adds a community timeline and fixes sign-up errors not being shown and servers being listed in the wrong order during onboarding.

I am trying out some changes to the Explore tab here on mastodon.social. Only one post per author will now be displayed, allowing more different authors to be seen. I've also tweaked how quickly those posts fall off.

@Gargron my explore > posts and news tab is always empty. Did i miss a setting? @Gargron That seems a good decision to me. Bonus question: The local timeline is empty on the web and in mobile clients. Is this just for me or a general thing on our instance? Thanks for your great work! If you created your account a long time ago, you may be seeing Mastodon's advanced web interface (multiple columns). That interface has not been the default for years now. You can control which one you see from Preferences.

@Gargron I loved when I saw this when it first showed up. Keep hoping to see it in the iPadOS version along with better keyboard support. If I could code I’d totally attempt to add it. In other news thanks for all the hardwork, I appreciate the ability to come back to see it’s still running and additional features/active development. Of course thanks to the the whole team & all the instance admins.

@Gargron Oh, I agree. Another incredible Marvel Studios project who have yet to have a misfire from one of their TV shows. Already looking forward to Ms. Marvel in June. @Gargron I caught up with two episodes and then it stops on that cliff hanger! Why…… :cwy: Mastodon's monthly active user numbers have risen by 84,579 since the Twitter buyout story broke on Monday (and I do mean across the Mastodon network, not this server)

@Gargron just wondering, what is classed as active? I don't post much but check the app regularly.
@Gargron
Excellent.
@Gargron das wird noch richtig bunt hier 🙌🏼 neu dabei und sehr gespannt.
