@Gargron Hi, I'm Bozer. I currently work in Cambridge (UK) for Guerrilla Games (Sony) as an animator and before that was working at Jagex on their Transformers game aswell as some other bits of freelance work here and there. I've been in the industry just over 7 years and studied 3D, 2D animation and illustration at Teesside University before that.

Explaining Mastodon in a conversation is so much easier than doing it through text on a website. That has never gotten easier. In fact it's gotten harder because now you have to worry about not sounding like a cryptocurrency because the concept of "decentralization" has been co-opted...

@gargron It's social media, but anyone can provide it, just like email. *pause* Realize that the person you're talking to doesn't realize you can have email outside of Gmail. @Gargron Just use the email analogy. Everybody understands Gmail, Hotmail, john@doecompany.com being able to talk to each other, and the value of it not being a locked garden. Imagine we all had to sign up to services with a single email. Only difference: it's "publicly posted/viewable emails" and it's like Twitter. @Gargron I say the following (whenever I try to do this exercise it only passes if my mother-in-law can repeat it to a friend): It's an interlinked network of communities owned and operated by the communities they serve, with millions of members around the world. I use as little techspeak as possible I do not highlight the negatives of other platforms, 99% of the people being spoken to don't know or don't care. I do not highlight similarities to email as I don't want to confuse the use case

Sometimes it feels like people just don't read past the headline. We're teaming up with a design agency to redesign the website, not to just change a color...

@Gargron will the mastodon software be getting a redesign in the future to? Disappointed to learn Cohost has been started by people from the fediverse. You know what the fediverse is but you learned the wrong lessons from it. Yes, I also think some servers are not operated professionally and blocks often get misused, but that is not a reason to replace a free and open system with a locked down one. I wrote on why decentralization matters back in 2018: https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2018/12/why-does-decentralization-matter/

I didn’t think Multiverse of Madness was very good. I’m unfortunately disappointed in the direction Marvel seems to be taking in regards to gratuitous violence. There was one scene that I thought was very cool, but frankly, What If had a much better Doctor Strange story than this movie.

@Gargron "What If" could prioritize "good story" because Marvel could retcon as needed. MoM had opportunities for character growth but wouldn't commit (e.g. Strange not being Sorcerer Supreme & What If's "Dr. Strange could destroy the universe if he doesn't think hard about his principles "). In the end, Marvel believes that their Main Good Guys ™️ must be seen as Morally Good and The Best regardless of their actions. It resulted in a weak story imo. @Gargron atleast marvel is doing something DC is having a real bad time and horror and violence is each person's personel preference,I love violence and horror so it was a pleasure movie for me. Somebody gave our Android app a 1-star review on the Play Store because "there is LGBT" [sic]

@Gargron What is wrong with people? Sometimes I seriously wish I could just lay down and die rather than listen to this woke bullshit. Mild satisfaction from seeing Bitcoin prices crash. Make that shit a stablecoin by dropping it to $1

@Gargron kinda sad seeing people trashing bitcoin when it was built for good reasons people just don't know about. @Gargron I confess, I did try to buy bitcoin when it was $20 but curiously almost all of the Canadian vendors wouldn't accept e-payments, they demanded cash in person and the nearest to me was two hundred kilometres away. The others weren't responding to email inquiries. So modern, those folks. Heck, back then you could even buy weed online with e-payments!

Testing an accent color change over here (official announcement coming soon). Currently an in-place replacement of the old one, but shades of individual elements will probably have to be adjusted.

@Gargron Hola, ¿y la versión para Linux? Ahora mismo uso el navegador o Whalebird pero me gustaría poder usarla como en Android. Un saludo |
