I didn’t think Multiverse of Madness was very good. I’m unfortunately disappointed in the direction Marvel seems to be taking in regards to gratuitous violence. There was one scene that I thought was very cool, but frankly, What If had a much better Doctor Strange story than this movie.

The scene I really liked was Zombie Strange. It was perfectly setup with a Chekhov’s Corpse.

@Gargron A lot different than I thought it was going to be, but I loved it! Glad I stayed away from spoilers long enough to catch it! :)

@Gargron It felt like a bit of a slog to me, which is sad because I was so looking forward to it. The last 30 mins were good so I'd edit it down to about an hour.
If it had explored different variants of Dr Strange and ego etc that might have been more interesting. *sad face*

@Gargron I found the powers of Wanda too over the top I mean professor X lost in like 2 minutes of screen time it was really insulting.

@Gargron that felt like the only clever bit, the rest just felt so unimaginative or do anything thematic with the mechanics

it doesn't help the last movie I watched before it was Everything Everywhere All At Once which was a perfect movie and did far more interesting things with a similar setup

Doctor Strange literally swallowing a galaxy destroying attack from Ultron like a snack is the best Doctor Strange moment across all of his appearances so far. I want to see that version of Strange again.

@Gargron "but it's the only way to make the audience feel anything" /s

@Gargron this wasn’t the Doctor Strange movie I was hoping for, though I still enjoyed it.

I’m thinking they inserted this to deal with the multi-verse in the MCU.

@Gargron We literally figured "the kid's never had issues watching Marvel movies before, we don't need to preview it". ...Well, we had to stop and haven't finished the movie yet, LOL.

@Gargron but why “Zombie Strange” was rotten like that, after being buried for just a couple of days?

Chris

@Gargron Did you like the latest Spiderman? I think it was the start of the multiverse storyline more or less but had a different touch

@Gargron "What If" could prioritize "good story" because Marvel could retcon as needed. MoM had opportunities for character growth but wouldn't commit (e.g. Strange not being Sorcerer Supreme & What If's "Dr. Strange could destroy the universe if he doesn't think hard about his principles "). In the end, Marvel believes that their Main Good Guys ™️ must be seen as Morally Good and The Best regardless of their actions. It resulted in a weak story imo.

@Gargron atleast marvel is doing something DC is having a real bad time and horror and violence is each person's personel preference,I love violence and horror so it was a pleasure movie for me.
