 Interesting observation about social media “fun”: Some people think #Bluesky is “fun”. However, I find it anxiety-inducing and stressful. I’m not the only one who thinks so. A few autistic people say the same thing. #Calckey seems “fun” to me because I can make it be what I need it to be. For example, it’s nice that I can create antennas devoted to my special interests. The best way to explain #Calckey is to imagine what would happen if (pre-Elon) #Twitter fell in love with #WordPress and they had a baby. That baby would be Calckey. Twitter + WordPress = Calckey Let me explain... 🧵 Well, this is an unexpected curveball. Jack Dorsey hopes that Bluesky will be “temporary”. How likely is Bluesky to actually be “temporary”?

You can customize which widgets you see there. I opted to see trending hashtags and recent notifications. On the right pane is the navbar. I'll get into that in a bit. But it's also not entirely @gruber's fault because the media doesn't really talk about the Fediverse, and when they do, it's as a synonym for "Mastodon". How would @gruber know about the massive development efforts to build more user-friendly alternatives to Mastodon? No one in the media talks about the growth of *key apps, and how they're now the #2 most used Fediverse platform. That story isn't being told.

@atomicpoet I've not used *key but presumably the negatives are similar there as here? The issues of moderation etc must be similar across the Fediverse.. or have they somehow dealt with the CW issues that POC pointed out were unfriendly to them?  @atomicpoet  @atomicpoet @fediversenews There's definitely something to what @gruber is saying. With manual account approval on mastodon.social and it being pushed as the default, I'd love to see the abandonment rate... Perhaps it's different when signing up through a phone? But getting someone all excited about trying a new social network is hard enough. Now they have to retain that excitement for an unknown amount of time, and then care enough to engage at some later date... Not much fun... Here's the problem. Recent growth on mastodon.social is greater than the growth rate of November 2022. But growth on other servers, like mstdn.social, has flatlined. This has been confirmed to me by numerous Mastodon server admins. Very concerning!  And it is because they claim that people are confused when they are going to chose a server. I personally, think that changing the word "server" to "community" during the signup process would make the process easier for new users (I think/hope). Look at the rise and fall of #BeReal! This is why centralization of social media is such a bad idea. BeReal is but one node. If it cannot sustain critical mass, it crashes and burns. Meanwhile, every node that operates on the Fediverse *shares* the network effect! No one company, institution, or service owns the ActivityPub protocol.  WOW, Quotes, Italics, Bolds on Mastodon. So much quicker than expected. Thanks for posting the image with the sample. It was good to see it.  @atomicpoet I keep forgetting that wrapping text in stars gives italics and two stars gives bold text in many apps.  You like stats and graphs? That sentence isn't new to me. You know what? People have been telling me that for five years. And for most of the time, they were right. But I've been beating that drum non-stop, and haven't let up. Now 16,656 follow me on Mastodon because they care enough about social media decentralization. I'm not going to stop talking about it until the entire Internet cares about social media decentralization!

You should also not be making tech monopolists richer while you do it. Social media decentralization prevents tech monopolies. By the way, my content moderation is set to hide political hate groups. Calckey is fun and I really love it after only 3 weeks time. Also, the ppl don´t seem so serious compared to Mastodon (my observation and maybe not fair)
I hope Calckey will grow and more ppl will join it!
