If you create a Fediverse group, Mastodon will label the account as a Group.
Although Mastodon itself doesn't support groups yet, it is nice that you can use groups *with* Mastodon by tagging the group.

There's lots of Fediverse server software that supports group that are usable with Mastodon. Off the top of my head, Some of them are: 1. Chirp I use Friendica for Groups because it seems to be the most mature option with the most robust feature set. |
I also want to point out that @Gargron is working on group support for Mastodon, and it does seem to be a high priority.
If you prefer Mastodon because you like it, it might be worth waiting for this feature.
But if you can't wait and you need to set up a group right now, it's great that the Fediverse gives you options!
