 Interesting observation about social media “fun”: Some people think #Bluesky is “fun”. However, I find it anxiety-inducing and stressful. I’m not the only one who thinks so. A few autistic people say the same thing. #Calckey seems “fun” to me because I can make it be what I need it to be. For example, it’s nice that I can create antennas devoted to my special interests. 17 comments

So the place feels familiar and fun as a small gated community right now @wonkothesane @atomicpoet @fediversenews So they managed to replicate the same #shitshow of pre-#ElonMusk #Twitter . Understood! Hopefully that won't persist in meaningful numbers. I'm not accusing you - I'm saying in general we as a society/community/etc. need to stop thinking about these communities in a "Win/lose" mentality. People are seemingly wanting to cling to a "one solution fits all" mentality. I don't think that is going to happen. Would only sign up to check it out & to understand the hype. @pussista @atomicpoet @fediversenews I'm on both, and there seems to be a lot of ppl there who tried mastodon, didn't get past the choices/friction at sign-up, or didn't like the "you need to adapt to us" attitude they feel like they encountered when they gave masto a shot (real or perceived). I saw ppl describe masto as "too eurocentric", not friendly to communities of colour, etc. I think many refugees were mourning what they lost, so just wanted a direct, easy replacement. @pussista @atomicpoet @fediversenews I know its easy to roll eyes about the friction thing, but when you think about it, we're a few decades past anyone having to think about which "server" they're going to join. Even when that was a thing for email, most people still just went with what they got from their ISP. Choosing a server, then choosing an app, not having a consistent experience, these are all new to the vast majority of users. @pussista @atomicpoet @fediversenews also, following is just a single click, right from someone's post. I think the multi-step follow thing, which even for me is frustrating at times, is a much bigger drop-out-point for many newcomers  @ConserveChange @pussista @atomicpoet @fediversenews Bluesky’s engineering design focuses more on users than instances, giving users more control over their content and flexibility to change servers more transparently, etc. Fediverse involves some engineering choices that are not compatible with those features. @atomicpoet@mastodon.social @fediversenews@venera.social  @atomicpoet @fediversenews I don’t know about #Bluesky itself, but I know the users of it who invade my threads and go OT are anxiety and stress inducing Calckey is fun and I really love it after only 3 weeks time. Also, the ppl don´t seem so serious compared to Mastodon (my observation and maybe not fair) I hope Calckey will grow and more ppl will join it! |
