We have planned a full review to support #Pixelfed as much as possible.
The idea is to support Pixelfed as a separated software like we already do for #Peertube.
This means to support all dedicated features with a dedicated layout.

@apps
I missed your peetube app. Is it out for Android?

We are currently blocked by Google for submitting new releases.
They asked videos showing why we need the permission "background services".
Videos are done and will be submitted tomorrow.
This feature is mainly used when posting because it needs to support the thread submission that can embed several media.
The other use case is for fetching the Home timeline.
That's why we have to postpone 3.28.1.
Sorry for that

Am I?

@apps
So, it will be available on f-droid while we wait for Google to catch up?

Fedilab Apps

Tomorrow, we will publish 3.28.1 for Fdroid users.
For Google users, we don't know how long the verification will take.

Fedilab Apps

We added pronouns support in #Fedilab.
It will be displayed for three different purposes.

1 - In timelines next to the display name
2 - When replying to an account (above the first reply)
3 - When mentioning accounts with the auto-complete feature.

It works for accounts that use a field named "pronouns".
We might expand to other words or translations.

Fedilab Apps

#Fedilab 3.27.0 has been published for all.

Added:
- Fixed top bar (default: disabled)
- Usage frequency of tags when composing

Changed:
- Markdown support disabled by default

Fixed:
- Fix crashes during interactions or when opening a new screen
- Fix color of dialogs in Settings
- Some minor crashes

Fedilab Apps

We forgot to mention this fix:

- Content Warning not applied to quoted messages

Somehow, loading posts above my current position in TL is not working anymore. I need to scroll down again afterwards.
Is someone else experiencing this problem?

Extra-features (disabled by default) is somewhat confusing in #Fedilab.
This option allows to enable features that #Mastodon doesn't support (quotes, reactions, submit messages in a specific format, etc.)
But softwares like #Pleroma, #Akkoma, #GlitchSocial, #FireFish don't support (currently) same features.

We plan to use #NodeInfo to automatically enable features depending on the user's instance (ie: software).

@apps Some servers add a list of supported features to NodeInfo metadata object (e.g. Pleroma). It would be cool to have a standard for those.

marcin mikoล‚ajczak

Nodeinfo is not any more useful than /api/vX/instance information (version string, pleroma.metadata.featuresโ€ฆ) for feature gating

tallship

#Nodeinfo has proven invaluable to me and also many of the public Fediverse databases, for example, with things like:

* The particular MRF settings implemented for a particular instance
* Fingerprinting exactly which platform and version is being examined
* How many local users have accounts on the instance
* Average number of posts in various different perspectives - total, per user, this period, Etc.
* Whether or not the instance is operated by Good, sharing Fedizens or people that choose not to disclose.

A #FEP for this can go a long way toward stabilizing this defacto standard as dejure.

#Fedilab's commitment to support the most popular #Fediverse platforms such as #Pleroma, #Soapbox, #Akkoma, #Misskey, #Firefish, #Mitra, #Pixelfed, #Solo, #Peertube, and other, unnofficially supported platforms like #Takahe is commendable, and Nodeinfo is a great way to enter into the foray of deterministically providing the users with that support.

It also encourages instance operators to make this information public - as it should be in almost all cases.

What do you think about that feature? #Fedilab

We will implement reactions for #Firefish and #GlitchSocial. Maybe one day #Mastodon will implement them too (outside announcements).

Thank you for your precious help @vyr

@apps you're welcome! i had to figure out how to do this for @Feditext, might as well write it up to save future client devs the trouble.

one of us is gonna have to figure out the quote-posting API details soon tooโ€ฆ

We are working to add the ability to follow #Lemmy instances (ie: pin timelines).
You will be able to interact with your Mastodon accounts. It will work like other followed instances. #Fedilab

@apps I would call this hateful design.

Bjornsdottirs

@apps That's so very cursed. Not presenting "install anyway" and "go back" as equal options is a dark pattern

What are your top three favourite apps on #Fdroid? And why?
Thank you for sharing.

Fedilab Apps

My personal:
- #Tutanota (f-droid.org/en/packages/de.tut)
- By far for me the best email service. I switched to pro for supporting their work.
- #Element (f-droid.org/en/packages/im.vec)
- Simple, easy to use to talk with the community.
#GitNex (f-droid.org/en/packages/org.mi)
- Best tool so far for gitea (works very well with #Codeberg).

@apps More specifically... I have 2 accounts, and whichever one I was looking at before going to bed is pretty much at the same place the next morning. The other account is around 24 hours out of date.

Jan (DL1JPH)

@apps
It's rare, but if it does happen it seems to correlate with scrolling in just the same instant as fetching new posts completes. It's really hard to be sure of this, though, as it's not reliably reproducible - I might well be seeing ghosts here.

Chris Lieb

@apps
I don't know if you consider it listing my position, but sometimes when I open the app back up (I think after it got evicted from memory), the position will be one toot older than when I left the app. This seems to only happen when I was caught up to the latest when I left the app. (Maybe the most recent isn't marked until after the top of the toot has scrolled onto the screen, but that isn't possible for the toot at the top of the list )

A small reminder to owners of small instances. You are free to use our #LibreTranslate api for your Mastodon instance. Simply just warn us by DM. Thank you.

#Fedilab 3.21.1 has been published:

Added:
- Filter messages in profiles (hide/show boosts or replies) via a long press on the tab

Changed:
- Some layout improvements for Peertube
- Better management of resolutions with Peertube
- Improve instance picker for Peertube

Fixed:
- URL in upper cases
- Issues with Peertube player
- False positive error when listening to audio
- GIF does not honor nsfw
- Polls having html
- Fix crashes when scrolling timeline with animated media
- Some other fixes

Fedilab Apps

#Fedilab allows you to use public API from other instances to get all information when visiting a profile or viewing a thread.

From a profile you will get all messages, following and followers.

From a thread you will get all replies and the ability to see all accounts that boosted / added to favourites.

As soon as you interact with a message or an account, the app will do everything in background so your instance is aware of that. It is fully transparent for you.

More in media descriptions.

Fedilab Apps

With #Fedilab 3.14.0, if you have a #Pixelfed account, you can now force the Pixelfed view in Settings > Timelines.
This setting is per account.

Is the fact the server is PixelFed something you attempt to detect or is it always necessary to manually flick the switch?

To #GlitchSocial, #Akkoma, #Pleroma users.

Where can we find common API endpoints and specific API documentation?

We would like to support some custom features with #Fedilab

The contact feature that has been fixed in 3.10.2 allows you to quickly manage mentions to accounts that you follow in your messages.

Check: add the mention in the message.

Uncheck: remove the mention.

Google rejected that release due to Invalid Data safety form.
For Google, we have to disclose in the app privacy policy form that we use / collect emails. Though that's incorrect. We will appeal the decision.
It might happen to other Mastodon apps.

To admins/moderators. This release migrated some admin endpoints to api/v2.
It fixes the moderation part that was broken with Mastodon4.
You will be also able to filter push notifications / notification tabs for subscriptions and reports.

This version fully supports all endpoints to manage domains.
