Happy to report that the European Commission's Open Source Programme Office decided to fund a bug bounty program for #Mastodon!
Happy to report that the European Commission's Open Source Programme Office decided to fund a bug bounty program for #Mastodon! The only part of Matrix: Resurrections I liked was the montage song (White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane)

Looking for suggestions for hardcoded report reasons besides "Other" (catch-all, legacy), "Spam", and "Violation". To clarify, any violation of a server rule would fall under "Violation", so I'm looking for suggestions that are usually not spelled out in server rules.

@Gargron @grishka @lickability Can we please get support for the local timeline this time? I realize you don't find it useful on your huge instance, but it's the main reason I bother to be a mod for my local instance. If you don't want everyone to centralize on your instance, you need to provide people with an incentive to run their own servers, and the local timeline is it. If you don't support it in Mastodon apps, it won't exist for people on phones (most people). This has been a lot of work and it's still not finished, but I at least have the layout figured out now so I want to share my progress. It's a redesign of the report screen in the moderation interface, including many small and medium changes to how things work, too many to describe here.

@Gargron Oh wow, that's gorgeous. I'm looking forward to trying the redesign of the mod ui. #LastBoost it's work in progress so i'm not sure how much feedback Gargron actually wants but i, at least, would be interested to know what mods think about this, how much do you think that helps you, are there things that are worse or missing

I would like to hear some opinions, preferably from other Mastodon admins/moderators, regarding suspensions and unsuspensions. Would you prefer to: 1. Let mods delete offending posts and send notifications to the author while increasing some internal strike count so mods know to enact harsher punishment in repeat cases, or 2. Let mods conditionally suspend accounts, allowing people to unsuspend themselves by agreeing to delete offending posts through their own action? Anonymous poll

@Gargron in the case of 1, would the internal strike count include the deleted posts that coincided with the actions taken against that user? What about if that post was made as part of a thread? I feel like that could better help mods contextualize a user's behavior and whether it's part of a broader pattern, if that makes sense. @Gargron i would post deletions. but yes, these with user-access... i think its more "humanish" joinmastodon.org is back up. The host it's on has been unstable after recent system updates, I will be looking into reinstalling everything elsewhere soon. I'm wondering if the announcements feature is working the best that it can or if I took the wrong approach in its design... I don’t think I can implement a yearly recap feature and get it into a stable release that everyone will install before 2021 ends but I want to set it as a goal as a fun little feature for next year @Gargron Yearly recaps are bragging about how much data mining they've done on you. I don't like them. Someone got so mad at being suspended from mastodon.social they sent an e-mail to my hosting provider *and* the FBI

@Gargron The FBI has more important things to worry about than a crybaby that got digital time-out online. I wouldn't care too much about this whole thing. I'm curious if I could hear the difference between the HiFi and Master song quality on Tidal on my system. I couldn't find any samples on their site...

@Gargron Harry Nyquist and Claude Shannon would bet against that. I'm trying out Tidal instead of Spotify, though I think I will miss Discover Weekly and Release Radar.

@Gargron I switched to Apple Music and I miss Spotify very badly. Their playlists are eerily good. @Gargron A 1tb hard drive with all my music and movies on it, plugged onto a Macbook Air next to my drawing table, FTW. @gargron This really reminds me of #AlteredCarbon, a bladerunner like show in the nearish future where the ultra rich basically live forever through expensive medical science while everyone else just tries to get by while aging and eventually dying. Great show, by the way, even if the future it depicts isn't... @Gargron |
@Gargron
great! Dear Eugen. Could you contact me per DM?
