Black Lake, where we've been swimming these past few days. Edges are full of sunken logs, and yellow water lillies. Woohoo~ being stern-tied to shore makes it so much easier to solar cook ^_^! Put the cooker on the bow, with zero adjustments needed. Pino in Roscoe Bay. Been here for nearly 6 days. We love it here. It's sheltered, not overly busy at the moment, either. Ought to be a good place to weather the coming warmth, because there is a freshwater lake just a short row+walk from shore.

@rek do you have a thermometer? Curious what the water temps are in the bay and in Black Lake. @rek just started to follow you, because you are definitely living my fantasy dream, there, Roscoe Bay on a sailboat. Climbed 683m(2241ft) on top of Mt Llanover on West Redonda Island (50°10.745'N, 124°47.462'W). Approx. 4 km each way. Up top offers amazing views. We could see Cortes Island, the lake near Refuge Cove, and to the far left Sarah Point (the last corner to turn before reaching Desolation Sound). A bumblebee spent the day aboard Pino today. We could not persuade it to leave. When it did leave. We added screens on all windows/doors. The bumblebee came back a few short minutes later. We watched it as it tried all of the openings, all 3 were screened, all impassable. Never seen a bumblebee so determined to get back inside. Wonder why o_O.

Just released the list of changes and updates to the Hundred Rabbits projects for the month of June! Made some solar cooked whole wheat(milled just this morning, thank you Dev) chocolate chip cake. Turned out perfect :moomin_yay: Buying chocolate chips was SUCH a good idea...!

The far end of the solar cooker heats food at a higher temp, so the ends of the tube cake has a cookie texture XD... crispy bottoms and all, kinda neat. Arrived in Roscoe Bay on West Redonda Island. Can only enter here on a rising tide, the entrance dries entirely at low tide. Didn’t expect to find a signal, but Devine hoisted the phone up the mast and now we have internets *flails*. Going to chill here for a few days :). In Sturt Bay at the north of Texada Island. Heading into Desolation Sound tomorrow with the help of some SE winds. We have several anchorages in mind, depending on how tired we are, or whether the wind is good or not. Looking forward to staying put somewhere nice and sheltered for a little while, to work on projects and to chill. We’ve been moving from anchorage to anchorage since June 6th, and it’s been nice, but it’s a bit tiring 😴 Had a nice 13nm sail from Maude Bay (Thunder Bay) this morning. Forecast called for light wind, we didn’t know what to expect, we could see there was wind when we left the anchorage, but thought it would die. The wind was a pleasant strength, it stayed with us all the way to Sturt Bay. Today Pino's anchored in Thunder Bay 49°45.831'N, 124° 16.105'W. Taking a day off from sailing, before we head to the north of Texada Island. Shores are lined with small cottages, the bay is overun with crab traps(not so good) and seals(very good). Wrote a detailed post on our 46nm sail to Princess Louisa Inlet, our time there, and the sail back. What a beautiful place. We went hiking in the woods in Princess Louisa Inlet yesterday, this particular trail leads to an old trapper's cabin (now just the foundations remain).

We left Pender Harbour at 11h30 yesterday, with plans to anchor in Green Bay in Agamemnon Channel, but the wind was so good that we went past it, and the wind kept being good so we kept going... up through Prince of Wales Reach, and then the extremely blustery Princess Royal Reach... by then we we’re under main only, going fast at 8 knots. We thought to anchor in Deserted Bay, but it was too exposed and we were left with no choice. We had to go through Malibu Rapids into Princess Louisa Inlet. By then it was 19h30, we saw that slack was at 21h30 ish, so we took all sails down, went to hide in a little calm nook in Queens Reach, and waited. We were right on time for the rapids. The water was flat flat. But by then, it was getting quite dark... we arrived at the head of the inlet at 22h30. 46 nautical miles later. A very big sail day indeed. I’ll write a more elaborate account of the sail with photos soon~ I love your "going fast at 8 knots" 😍 For "groundlings" are 14.8 kph… and on the sea it's a good speed. Pino just arrived in Pender Harbour. Stopping here to buy some more fresh veg, and it's a good leaping point into Jervis Inlet. A quick write-up of our sail across Georgia Strait, and about Smuggler Cove, our anchorage of the moment. Anchor is set, stern tied to shore in Smuggler’s Cove. Pino rode 20kt SE winds like a champ, and carried us in record time across Georgia Strait from Silva Bay on Gabriola (25nm in 3 1/2 hours), we were averaging 7-8 kts (the waves... were not small) "HI-YAH!!!" Never heard them make a sound like that before XD...it really sounds like a kiai (気合). I don't know why, but I always forget to mention the whales that we see on these passages. @klardotsh @neauoire guy on a sailboat fighting dodd's narrows at peak ebb (spoiler: dodd wins). @rek @klardotsh @neauoire this has been me in Gabriola Passage. I wound up abandoning the effort and anchoring overnight in Degnan Bay while I stayed at my parents' house, and came back to find the boat heeled over when the tide went out. Fortunately, she floated again without incident a few hours later but it was a bit stressful. Some quick write-ups of our trip so far. https://100r.co/site/maple_bay.html @rek There's something profound about a ship and crew who circumnavigated the Pacific journeying through a waterway closer to land, or indeed inland. What is the marina's criteria for a float plane? I feel like there could be a loophole here. What if the solar panels were moved into a winglike configuration?

I made a typo with the price, it's fixed in the original post now, but it's 1600$, not 16000$ XD... that would be... all kinds of insane. @rek nice one. Easily underestimated how much of a job ™ maintenance things can be but well worth it |
