Taking this out of a comment and into a thread of its own.

Is my heavy water still heavy? I have a bottle of 99% D2O, and it's hygroscopic, I don't know the history of it before I got it. It's about half full. It might have sucked in a lot of normal water from the air.

@Dtl You could make an icecube and see if it sinks in water. In theory Deuterium is stable contrary to Tritium. If it was 99% pure ten years ago and the lid was tight, it still is 99% now.

@Dtl that’s a blast from the past. Thanks for posting.

@Dtl I was going to say that you're venturing dangerously close to philosophy with those kinds of questions.

It’s the “get back to printing stuff” season, I think

A man held the door for me but then there was a second door.

What's the protocol here? Halp!

Why didn't I study second door at woman school 😱

@mrundkvist this 1000x. I’m the youngest GenX and I absolutely prefer reading. I have never even listened to a single podcast, and I have no interest in watching videos of people talking about something I could read and understand for myself.

@mrundkvist And while at it, please share links of articles instead of screenshots. Or share both.

@TimWardCam @hamatti non UK readers might not understand the concept of a "TV licence". In Britain, you can't watch TV until you've taken the Television Aptitude Test, or TAT, which gauges your understanding of BBC4 arts programmes, your ability to follow long running soaps in a regional dialect, and whether or not you laugh at Ant and Dec.

@rvkennedy

By "regional dialect", I assume you mean "from around London".

@TimWardCam @hamatti

Rik - M0RKM

@rvkennedy @TimWardCam @hamatti I recently failed my level 3 licensing exam so now I can’t watch either Eastenders or Pointless.

Tim Hergert

@rvkennedy @TimWardCam @hamatti I understand that you can have your license suspended if you laugh at shows such as "The Brass Eye"

I love that if anyone asks "what geeky things can I do in London?" There are lots of replies saying Novelty Automation.

@Dtl Oh, that's fun. Been ages since I've been there, but was worth a visit.

Usually, I’m fine with adulting. But when you need to rationalize about your own midlife crisis – it SUCKS. I wanted to waste money, but no, I’m “reasonable”. As if being reasonable got anyone anywhere…

If you're an audio engineer, or in networking, this might be the carpet from hell

@finn there was a really great “moff” (moth) one on Westwick street but I think it’s gone now.

I brought over one of my recent bots from cohost: follow @lands for a random Magic the Gathering "basic land" card once a day.
I don't actually know much about MtG and last played 25 years ago but I've always dug the art, and the minimalist, frequently relaxing vibes of the basic lands. Enjoy!

@jplebreton @lands My only time playing MtG was with a group at work that were really good players and they destroyed me. I'd love to find an in-person group closer to my skill level.

Hey, I saw how you downloaded that meme and replaced the words with different words and it was really funny. Are you seeing anyone?

@JauntyArt Somehow this reminds me in a disturbing way of my childhood, when I still believed that you could ask Babybel why the red cow always laughs so stupidly. 😁
