I have actually embraced this. Cables everywhere. Chaotic desktop. Cable management is just too much. I just untangle stuff when I need to, and that's all. 😂 @Natasha_Jay I think my brain would be constantly switching between expecting parts of it to shear off, and trying to avoid stepping on any "cracks". That style on like a wall, to look more like geological strata might look cool. @Natasha_Jay The lighting pulsing through the lines is what is interesting. Seen in Oslo sidewalk. @Natasha_Jay ::mentally trying to cable-manage the carpet:: @macberg Too many presentations given with dodgy cabling over the years 🤣 @Natasha_Jay I seriously thought it was a room pic from DefCon and kept looking for the equipment Haha, @Natasha_Jay @Natasha_Jay It's the little channels of blank beige, like old (inappropriate) tape adhesive that's gotten covered by dust over the years, around each exposed "cable" that kills me. If this was my actual carpet, I can guarantee you that the "empty" spots between the cables would wear thin within like a year, as there are only so many places to put my foot down without possibly stepping on a cable or picking one up on my foot on the next step. @Natasha_Jay Instantly took my feet up - I‘m neither network nor audio nor any other engineer. @Natasha_Jay I am both and my brain is doing backflips and failing to land them right now @Natasha_Jay I would trip every second step, just because I’d be expecting to 😭 @Natasha_Jay My brain was all mad "Where the @*&^%@ is the gaffer tape???'" before I realized this was a pattern. @Natasha_Jay If the hotel doesn't have a similar picture on their webpage or Booking does not list this in their offer: I smell a lawsuit. @Natasha_Jay don't think i could maneuver through here without subconsciously doing the "cables on the floor" walk @Natasha_Jay perfect, you will never know when you'll trip over a wire, or if it's just the carpet. @Natasha_Jay OMG I was like "why is your hotel room under construction?" for 5 minutes staring at this picture trying to make sense out of it... Than I read the text 😅 @Natasha_Jay I'm neither as of current and I still hate this omg. I really don't like Hotel carpets. I don't know if it's my autism or my OCD, or both, but every hotel carpet pattern I've ever looked at has annoyed me. This might be one of the worst ones. But I've seen ones where it's just like a bunch of circles and I hate those too. Sometimes they interlock, sometimes they don't. With no rhyme or reason. CHOOSE ONE! What we need to do is cut all of the ‘cords’ out of the carpet, tape it down, and put a new carpet over this. Then add rugs. or… what you said. cc: @Natasha_Jay @Natasha_Jay "What kind of vibe are you going for?" "The floor underneath someone's desk." "Say no more." @Natasha_Jay Ugh. That looks like it was bring your kid to work day at the carpet factory, some toddler got hold of a permanent marker, then went to town as the carpet was getting spooled up. @Natasha_Jay My first intuition after seeing the image, before reading the text, was: "Someone should clean that up" and then I read ... @lindworm@chaos.social @Natasha_Jay@tech.lgbt @Natasha_Jay me: I don't understand. That carpet looks ok underneath those wir... Oh. @Natasha_Jay @Natasha_Jay@tech.lgbt didn't even know it was a carpet even after reading your post, until I read the alt text 😭 @Natasha_Jay@tech.lgbt i wanna be a video producer one day... and this carpet drives me insane @Natasha_Jay @Natasha_Jay @smitty I want a short roll of this to secretly deploy to NOCs during cons. @Natasha_Jay As an SWE/SRE this is pissing me off. And I only do my home network and other cabling :RageShooky: @Natasha_Jay |
@Natasha_Jay As someone who has two extension leads snaking across her garden to her telescope at night (one power, one ethernet) this would give me nightmares.
