 JD Vance says we should replace experts in every field with "common sense wisdom". Let's see how he feels when his pilots are replaced with people who just have common sense about what flying should be like. *I say this as a pilot who is continually amazed by what people think flying a plane is really like. @grumpygamer Maybe links are counted as 23 characters (Illuminati π±) and itch.io links are probably shorter, especially without the protocol. On the other hand I like the fact to post ridiculously long links, which only account to 23 characters.  @grumpygamer  Things about 2023 that would have surprised me: 61: I can walk into a bank with a mask on and no one cares. I am heading to Germany for devcom to meet up with some of the Return to Monkey Island team and talk about the aforementioned so there will be no todo lists for the next week. @grumpygamer I once played an adventure game made by a Dave Gilbert, causing me to do a double-take and confirm that, yes, they are their own person and not a Frankenstein melding of you and Dave Grossman.  @grumpygamer Heh, I once got the invoice for all the personal copies of an author's autobiography he had ordered, this guy: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phil_Ashby - fun conversation with Macmillian ensued π Unions can also be their own oppressive mess but itβs probably slightly better than what we have now. I do worry about how rigid unions would hamper true indie game work. 3/3 I support the game industry unionizing, not only to create reasonable working hours, but also to stop companies from getting rich off our hard creative work. I donβt think game writers should be part of the WGA, the business are too different, and Iβve seen the cluster fuck of hollywood unions trying to get into games. 2/3 I really hope the TV writers can get something meaningful from the strike. Iβm skeptical only because big companies taking advantage of creatives is burned into their DNA. I see this all the time. Thimbleweed Park was the first game I ever saw anything from. I am getting something from RtMI but itβs small. Iβve created a lot over the years and only made other people rich. 1/3 Because Mastodon doesn't allow quoted posts, I see is a lot of Mastodon users posting screenshots of the post they want to quote. It's interesting how people will find a way to get around any obstacle. It's a daily battle in game design. If you don't let players do something they really want to do, they find away and often break your game to do it. Not sure where this post is going, it's early and I haven't had coffee yet. 2001: A Space Odyssey directed by George Lucas. Now I'd like to see Star Wars directed by Stanley Kubrick. Return to Monkey Island is now out on GOG... Mac, Linux and Windows.  Great news! Have patiently waited until I can give my money to someone else than Steam.

@grumpygamer Also, I can't help but imagine how Boeing took that advice kind of literally, by not letting the experts clarify that, yes, the plane should not use a single sensor for MCAST, and door plugs are bad compared to just a normal plane shell in the same space.
