I have a Google Alert for my name. Half of the alerts are stories about games where I was mentioned, the other half are people named Ron Gilbert who died. It's creepy and fascinating.

@grumpygamer I often get reports about a police officer in Australia and match reports of shinty matches in the Highlands refereed by "me"... @grumpygamer imagine all the free scnacks, girls and warm welcomes other R.G.s are getting in your name! @grumpygamer Each one that dies grants you more game design power. Soon you will be hunting them down @grumpygamer time to make a game about a bunch of people made Ron Gilbert who suddenly die and merge the alerts @grumpygamer I once played an adventure game made by a Dave Gilbert, causing me to do a double-take and confirm that, yes, they are their own person and not a Frankenstein melding of you and Dave Grossman. @grumpygamer Heh, I once got the invoice for all the personal copies of an author's autobiography he had ordered, this guy: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phil_Ashby - fun conversation with Macmillian ensued 😀 |
@grumpygamer A friend I had in high school had the same name as a touring singer. He used to get the singer's traffic fines in the mail.
