@InternetEh@dads.cool As someone from the united states of america, particularly in southern west Virginia. It feels like its mystical or magical to me. Almost reminds me of the elvish language from the "lord of the rings". And to me that makes it feel welcoming. But I also am not your average southern west Virginian.

that "TikTok ban law" is kind of amazing bc it says if you use a VPN to evade a ban on a website or app that's operated by "America's enemies," then you can be prosecuted I said this the other day, but in my 40 years, I don't think there's been a bigger chunk of the world that's regarded as "America's enemies." We are up to what, like 40% of the worlds population are bad guys now

personally I think the cyberstalking websites should be shut down People tend to talk about them like they're just populated with weird incel loner trolls or whatever, but people who've been targeted say the people are members of online communities that victim and troll both shared, and the troll went to the site for the specific purpose of cyberstalking them. It's just a thing that shouldn't exist. It has no other purpose.

I had a delayed realization about this phrase written on the roof of a shack in Disco Elysium. I thought allez vous en meant "let's go," but it means "are you going" or "go away." I passed this dozens of times and didn't get it! lol. Now THAT'S environmental storytelling. The game doesn't beat you over the head with it. You can't interact with the message and your character doesn't even notice it, but there are several threads you pick up elsewhere that tell you exactly why that message is there.

I think there's a real emotional pain that people go through when they see someone they can't actually help, and it can sometimes make people do weird, antisocial things bc our society is powerfully antisocial. It is a real thing, but nobody should be expected to value it over the pain of the person being deprived.
