I sincerely cannot understand why otherwise normal and thoughtful people/organizations continue to patronize X/Twitter. I literally quit my job as an exec at Twitter when it became clear Musk would take over the company, and the level of ineptitude and noxiousness today has dramatically exceeded what I thought would have been possible at the time.  @stevetex When I heard Musk wanted to buy Twitter, I instantly knew he wanted to turn it into a far-right propaganda tool. It seemed like everyone thought I was odd to say that about a "greedy foolish person". I think that's the biggest reason I moved to fedi for good: almost no one would accept what was happening. @jwz Was listening to Spotify last week, suddenly started getting some long, repetitive, electronic music that didn't go anywhere. I got kind of confused, then noticed the AI generated cover art, weirdly verbose track name, uninspired 'band' name, and some pretentious artist bio fresh out of ChatGPT. The queue had been filled with more of it. Trash.  @BlippyTheWonderSlug that pattern needs its symmetry fine-tuned so it can fully interlock (like an Escher interlocking tile design) so you don't have to reroll excess cookie dough over and over

@dansinker I never would have imagined 2%, let alone this. It's an incredible number. I have not yet canceled mine, I am hoping to see some real pushback. I hope this is a moment where readers demand a new deal where if you want to be a rich owner, you explicitly commit to stay out of any editorial decisions.  I'm surprised that many people paid for a news website subscription to begin with. We’re excited to welcome Shannon (@whattherestimefor) to the Mastodon core team as our full-time iOS developer!
