Watching old movies that were shot on actual film brings me so much joy now. Such beautiful colors. It’s downright relaxing. I’m tired of the over saturated digital look almost every new production has nowadays.
@Gargron I thought that saturated digital looks was because of post production, not because of the medium it's recorded... (I may be wrong, though, I'm not an expert in film production).
I think film gives a particular texture and a broader dynamic range (that gets somewhat lost in the transfer) but there's almost no cinemas today that use analog projectors, so that's the limiting factor.
@Gargron I watch a lot of Arrow Video and getting to see 70s/80s Italian Giallo in 4k but with film gran intact looks stunning. Much nicer than a clean digital look.
@Gargron The French Revolutionary Calendar had 10 days a week. They used it for 12 years. As far as I know, it did not lead to space-time difficulties, but it did lead to Napoleon, who was a bit of a disruption in himself. So if a French John Lennon in say about 1800 sang, "Oooh I need your love babe, ten days a week," it would not be hyperbole, but perhaps just a manifestation of the "many worlds" version of multiverse theory.
There is an ongoing spam attack on the fediverse for the last couple of days. It's more widespread than before, as attackers are targeting smaller servers to create accounts. Before, usually only mastodon.social was targeted and our team could take care of it. For server administrators out there: If you don't need open registrations, switch over to approval mode. If you do, blocking disposable e-mail providers is a massive stopgap to the problem. Mastodon also supports hCaptcha.
@Gargron I understand it has became more popular - so ther is some kind of "jalousy" among the old emperors? I know it seams to sound as conspiracy-theory... but it isn't. Growth of fediv takes the numbers away... so...
@Gargron A lot of furry servers have been set to approval required for a while. The verification field asks "What is your fursona and why is this a good home for them?" to weed out both spam and uninteresting trolls.
@Gargron Takumar lenses can be excellent for texture like that brickwork, and for deep blacks and creamy whites. I have an old 55mm f/1.8 that I use on my Fuji X-E2. If only I could get it to focus every time! 🙄😁
@Gargron did I tell you that my first ever Saturday job was working at Games Workshop in Portsmouth? I used to be hugely into 40k back in the day. A long time ago for me! That's a lovely paint job, the colours really pop.

Lots of people came to the #Mastodon stand at #FOSDEM today. That was pretty cool. I’ve had a number of lengthy conversations about features, challenges, and so on.
