Welp, It is hard to take an appetizing photo of a whole wheat chocolate cookie XD! (Plus it's been overcast for days, shit light.)

I've been experimenting with baking cookies on the stovetop, this was my best attempt so far. No burned bottoms, great texture :>.

I used a trivet to elevate the cookies in my cast iron pan, and cooked them with a lid on for 30 minutes low-med heat. #thegalley

Took a while to cook because my IH plate doesn't like working for long at medium heat, but it doesn't complain at low heat. The plate doesn't like to cook at med heat for long when it thinks that there's nothing in the pan(even if it isn't empty, this happens when I cook flat bread in the pan too).
Cooking time would be a lot shorter on an LPG or regular electric stovetop.

@rek oh NICE! these look real tasty and as if they have a good texture and solidity!

a few weeks back i tried improvising a batch of "healthy chocolate chip cookies" (using canola, date sugar, spelt). they turned out tasty but a bit wobbly and soft. needs further experimenting ^^

The changes in Pino's galley have been updated on the splash art of our website ^_____^

An isometric drawing of the inside of a sailboat, showing the saloon, galley and nav table. Rek is stoking a woodstove, Little Ninj is updating his blog at the nav table using Devine's Laptop, and Devine is cooking in the galley.

I also updated this image :>!

Our support page has an image of the boat in another mode, with the table gone. In this mode the table is hooked on the wall next to the woodstove.

Ruler of the Taiga.

3 pages out of 6, still working on the other 3 :>...

See pages together: kokorobot.ca/site/ruler_of_the

Young Hakazi and seir walking in the forest. "Ive decided, im going to go live in the Taiga" Hakazi says, Seir replies "yea right! You don't know how to do aything! You're gonna eat something weird, get diarrhea, and die!".
Next panel, Hakazi is angry, "Shut up! That won't happen!" Seir is throwing a baseball in the air, "whatever you say.".
Next panel, Hakazi smiles, "I've been stashing food out here." Seir grins too, "you'll run home as soon as you're out of oreos."
Next panel, Hakazi is annoyed, "I wont! I don't care if you don't believe me!" "That so? Just do it then!" Seir says to him.
Hakazi flushes, he looks embarassed..."Can't you just... do it with me?" Seir looks amused, "What? No way. Don't be stupid Hakazi."
Suddenly they hear someone crying, out of sight. "The heck was that?" Seir says, "Let's go see" Hakazi replies. "Really?" Seir says, looking scared. "Ya" says Hakazi.
Hakazi runs towards the sound of the cry, Seir stays put and yells after him "HAKAZI!"
Seir curses inaudibly, and starts talking to himself, looking annoyed, "Seir, why's Hakazi missing? You were together weren't you? He was younger than you. T'was up to you to keep him safe! SIGH!" After saying this, he runs after Hakazi... "Damn elder guilt".

They arrive to see the source of the crying, a small child, looking a bit battered, sitting on the ground. "Whoa! It's a kid! He's like us!" Hakazi says, "What's he doing alone out here?" Seir asks.

"Uh oh, I think he's gonna cry" Hakazi says out of frame. The kid looks like he's about to cry.

Next frame, the kid is on all fours, looking very feral and growling ferociously at them, bearing a set of very sharp teeth "GRAAAAH!"

Ruler of the Taiga. The last 3 pages [6/6]

SUPER happy with this ^______^

Full sequence: kokorobot.ca/site/ruler_of_the

Hakazi and Seir are huddled up together, looking afraid/surprised. Hakazi is crossing his fingers like trying to ward of a demon, "You're gonna laugh" he says with a smile. "I'm sure I wont!" Seir replies.
The kid is on all fours, growling, standing over a pile of half-buried rubbish. His arms and face are full of weird lines. Out of frame, Hakazi says "He found one of my caches. He pillaged 'the mother cache'". "So much for your big plan, eh? Defeated by a demon baby." Seir replies.
The kid growls at them a loud. Seir looks concerned, "he looks sick, not sure we should go near him."
"Maybe we can just tell someone he's out here, they'll find his parents." Seir says.
Hakazi is looking serious, "Be real Seir, how'd you think he ended up out here in the first place?"
Looking stern, Hakazi says "He's coming with us." Seir looks shocked,"Wait, what?! You're crazy! Look at him, he wants to kill us!"
"We'll lure him with food." Hakazi replies.
Hakazi is smiling now, he has a plan "No one'll mess with me out here, not with HIM around!" Hakazi imagines himself riding over a very buff adult version of the kid. "That's so stupid, he's teeny tiny." Seir says. "I'll feed him, he'll bulk him" says Hakazi.
Hakazi points to the kid, saying "You and me feral kid! We'll RULE the Taiga!"
In the next frame, the kid lunges at them "GRAAH!" Both Seir and Hakazi look surprised, Seir says "I think he wants to rule alone!"
The kid jumps at Hakazi, Hakazi is yelling, grabs him and quickly tosses him over towards Seir who says, "WHAT?!"
In the next frame, Hakazi and Seir are walking away, the kid isn't there anymore, Seir is holding his arm and is very angry. "You THREW him at me...!" "He got you pretty good, eh?" Hakazi says, grinning, looking unharmed.
Hakazi and Seir are walking away, the kid is in the foreground, with his back to us. "He's got bits of ME in his MOUTH! I'm missing bits Hakazi!" Seir whines in the distance, "You're just angry cause you didn't think of tossing him back at me," Hakazi replies.
In the next frame, the kid is holding a baseball that Seir dropped earlier, out of frame Hakazi says "Hot potato! Hot potato!", Seir replies "You're an asshole!".

Very pleased with our new galley.

@rek Seems like a big trade. An oven and two burners for food storage. 🤔 Did it just use too much fuel, or did you never really use it and prefer the extra food storage?

Ryan Null

@rek so much more space. I’ve never used more than one burner at a time on the boat. #onepotlife

Good tradeoff in my opinion.

An otter kept us up last night, hopping on and off the boat non-stop, doing... I don't know what. Eventually Devine got fed up and stuck their head outside, the otter took a quick dive overboard and did not return.

At night, both us are especially lazy. It's hard to will ourselves to get up to do something about the thing that annoys us, even if doing the thing earlier could save us sleep :neofox_blush_hide:

xsova

@rek ooo if you’re still doing sprite commissions could I get one? Those look awesome :)

When we do boat repairs, I am glad that @neauoire takes the time to photograph the process. Photos make the documentation clearer, and easier to follow.

We make a good team :neofox_hug_bun_heart:

@rek Is that why I hated Paris so much? Or was that just Paris 😜

@rek travelling not much, but moving can help with a lot of issues because more often than not even with new lenses and a ''fixed'' mind if you are immersed in a system (both people and places) fully adapted to the old you they won't change instantly with you so they could lead you into going back to a previous form

sorry if i've said too much but it's often overlooked the fact that changing stuff around us forces our brain to change and so it can really help to shake things up, more than trying to find some kind of key inside ourselves

Lately, while doing general research, I often land on webpages that are hosting erroneous generated content.

A site about how to fill a pillow looks legit at first, then lapses into how to make filling for food.
A site about boating uses fake people to write articles about boating, talking about how to make trips they've never done or never plan to do (obvious from the writing).

It is gonna get harder and harder to find good information out there.

@rek I guess we're discovering that the library of babel started with actually coherent texts.

Mike

@rek Yeah, time to start compiling the lists and sharing them out blogroll-style.

My site (and the posts within) may not represent 100% accurate info 😅 but it *is* 100% human-generated (me as the human).

vacuumbeef

@rek I wanted to search some ideas for DIY shower curtain rod. And well I found something, but it was on some sports and workout website, the article had photos of people working out in the gym but the text was really about curtain rods (though obviously generated nonsense). At first I'm like WTF, okay generated but why on sport website?

But then I got it - barbell rod.

When Dev & I hang out with older sailor friends(hetero married couples), it is crazy how often they bicker(edit: not in a cute way), or are rude to each other, right in front us :/.

It is SUPER uncomfortable :neofox_nervous:

@rek That's a miserable way to live your life. I think some people just get so used to relating to their partner this way that for them it becomes "normal"... It happened in my family, and I hate it when I notice similar tendencies in myself.

ndpi

@rek word on the street is that contempt is the leading indicator of failed marriages. It certainly seems immiserating to live in a relationship where you don’t get or give respect.

Somnius :server_tiger:

@rek As I say to my partners when we experience these things, "the straights are not okay".

The heteronormative assumption that people who are married should hate each other is really tired and stuff like this comes up all the time sadly :\

I trick myself into doing the dishes by playing a game. The goal of the game is to finish washing up before the process of making tea is finished (from boiling the water, to the leaves steeping in a cup).

It doesn't feel like a chore because it's 'free time', time I would have spent waiting, doing nothing.

I then walk away with a warm comforting cup of tea and the washing is finished, yay~!

Cameron

@rek this such is a great way to incorporate any habit you want to get into your routine, I've meditating regularly because I started doing it while my tea or coffee steeps

Grimgrains.com has always had a mascot, a loaf of dark bread named Kuropanman, a tribute to Anpanman (a hero with a red bean paste filled pastry for a head).
I only became very interested in cooking when moving to Japan in 2012, the site came online shortly after that.
