This year, on Christmas eve, we made some dumplings with a millet tourtière filling! It was EXCELLENT!

💜 pry 💜

@rek that looks lovely!!! will definitely need to try this out sometime

Lizbeth

@rek i'll have to try that millet tourtière, we used to go to a small vegan sugar that was making an amazing one, i've been missing it ever since

Rabbits on a morning walk in North Saanich. They'd planned to walk on the beach that day but the tide was too high, the water had swallowed the bottom of the stairs.

It is one hell of a coincidence... but both Busy Doing Nothing and Wiktopher are exactly 237 pages long.

What... does.. it... MEAN?! :moomin_what:

ThaCuber

@rek 237 more days before new book?!1!1? :floosh:

vacuumbeef

@rek It means now all of your future writing works should be 237 pages long.

la ninpre

@rek btw? 237 in hex is 0xED :moomin_hmm:

R E K

Just received my test copy of the printed version of Wiktopher *o*!

It looks amazing! I just have a few details to fix before release~

@rek Thanks for writing this book, it was a wonderful read. Really hope to be able to read more adventures in the Soronan desert in the future :)

Before and after! Started working on the backrests for the saloon. It is the most complex fabric project Ive ever done.

The foam has a wooden backing, had to leave holes for the ball catch and the two hinges, the bottom of the cushion has a seamed zipper(so the cover is removable), and the foam is thicker at the bottom than at the top.

Now I gatta repeat this process 4 more times 😅

@rek wow, those came out really well!

R E K

I messed a few things up on this first try but it doesn't show, only if you look closely, hehe ^^. I don't have a ton of sewing machine experience, the stitching isn't always straight.

The zipper plaque was a bit too narrow, getting the backing board in was super tough (will make zipper longer on other back rests).

I'll document what I had trouble with when I have a bit more time. As always, I'll put it up on our wiki.

@rek looks great, that’s an impressive job!

Going to see 君たちはどう生きるか(The Boy and the Heron) tomorrow....!!!!

So excited to see it!

Bad Diode

@rek kind of jealous, we got busy and I think we missed the subtitled Japanese screening, I think note we can only watch it dubbed :eccehomo:

TJ Radcliffe

@rek Thanks for sharing this! I've been interested in vacuum solar for a long time, but I think this pushes me over the edge to buy one.

Dante Scanline

@rek side question but i saw the mention of cooking soy beans
what kind of dishes do you make with cooked soy beans? or is it just for making soy milk / tofu?

Just released the list of changes to the Hundredrabbits projects for November!

T'was a busy, busy month!

Suraj G. recently asked to use the little wonky font(of my handwriting) I did for my comic Hakum, and sent me a photo of what its being used for.

This is a framed e-ink display with a battery operated Raspberry Pi mounted to the back. Everyday it refreshes with a new random quote.

So cool, haha~!

pengaru

@rek with that red bezel I expected a pair of faux etch-a-sketch white knobs on the bottom

:moomin_flower2: Wiktopher is finally finished :moomin_flower2:

I loved spending time in that world, I hope you will too!

Btw, in the next month or so I will likely be pushing a lot of changes to this book(so keep an eye on Itch.io if you want the latest changes, the versions are numbered).

Me and Dev have had eyes on the manuscript for a long time, and at this point there are mistakes we just don't see.

If you find any mistakes, kindly let us know :>. We're not professionals, we just like worldbuilding, and editing/typesetting books.

daria björn

@rek the cover is something else! Congratulations! :moomin_yay:

rostiger

@rek Amazing! Massive congratulations on wrapping up such a monumental project! Looking forward to the printed edition!

R E K

Wahoo~ new saloon cushioooons! They're SO plump...!
Next, gatta measure the fabric needed to make the back rests so they match.

R E K

I don't know why but I never realized what the fundamental difference was between eatable and edible.

I just realized I've been using the word eatable in all situations.

eatable: able to be eaten, with acceptable taste
edible: safe to eat, regardless of taste

wrack

@rek To be frank, 'eatable' is a modern word. 'Edible' has always covered, 'able to be eaten' and 'acceptable taste', with context making its particular meaning clear.

Luci ‘O Lantern

@rek i may have to update my
mental dictionary
eatable: able to be eaten regardless of taste or safety
edible: a chocolate or gummy infused with distilled thc

Thomasorus

@rek I thought edible was just for weed related food lol

Just finished changing the keyboard on an 11in Macbook Air 2013. Went well!
It is SO nice to have the tab, caps lock, R, 4 and } keys working again!

R E K

In the end the 'r' key kept popping out of its slot >_<... was driving me nuts.

rostiger

@rek Hah, wow, what a satisfying relief that must be.
I'm impressed that you dared to take it apart AND were able to reassemble it. 💪

The cover of Thousand Rooms in Solresol. "Solfasol Remisolla" is the name of the book in Solresol.

Devine did the translation(with help from ppl from the Solresol community), and I'm putting the notes on a staff :>...

wiki.xxiivv.com/site/solresol.

poetaster

@rek that is really, really neat. I think I'll try to translate some haiku to Solresol!

R E K

HOT damn :moomin_sparkles:

What am I doing even.

Made some very mild kimchi :P!

Cabbage is super expensive at the grocery store nowadays, but bought 2 large ones on special this week. Really pays to look at flyers for times when produce is cheaper :>!

rag. Gustavino Bevilacqua

@rek

😋 😋 😋

I keep the expired flyers to light the wood stove…

poetaster

@rek cabbage expensive!!?! Jeez. In BC? Very affordable here in kraut world. I use a large ceramic urn (about 5 liters) for kimchi/ sauerkraut. Birds eye chili kraut!

eiven

@rek I've been making kimchi a lot these days too... and lactofermented hot sauce! we had a lot of cabbage from our csa and had like 5lbs of hot peppers dropped off to us from a friend. haven't tried buying either yet, but def believe you. prices are unbelievable, and they've started locking up the dumpsters. -_-

R E K

When I draw comics I tend to write text by hand, but my hand letter work is a bit inconsistent, so I decided to make a font out of my handwriting!

First time making a font. Was inspired by Lizbeth(who's also working on a lovely font rn).

@rek I really like the lower case d. (Also hello after some time)

rostiger

@rek Oh, that's a pretty solid looking font - well done!

ThaCuber

@rek maybe a weird question, but will you make it available anywhere?
