@cederbs it is scary how this article projects the similarity of AI with plastic in positive light. I wrote a thread a while back about the similarities between the plastic industry and AI in a not so flattering tone: https://androiddev.social/@kiranrao/112802240530043153 @cederbs It'll pollute everything, but we'll carry on ignoring the problem because it's too convenient?

@eniko @gabrielesvelto @cederbs but we've still got the old plastic to deal with! at least space out the plastics a little bit 14,000 prescription lenses are suspended like a vortex of rain in a new installation from Caitlind r.c. Brown and Wayne Garrett. https://www.thisiscolossal.com/2024/10/brown-garrett-omachi-city/ This window is over 400 years old. It's the perfect example of a "jali", an intricately carved stone window common in Indian Architecture. And it's just one of the many things that make Indian Architecture so special... @culturaltutor #IndianArt #architecture #auspol my favourite politician who now goes by the moniker "mad max" owns precisely zero properties. Max Chandler-Mather for PM. Go Max. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-10-16/how-many-properties-do-australian-federal-politicians-own/104476596 It's not like I think that me posting this here will change anything, but at least it makes me feel slightly better: To any tech companies out there: The opposite of "yes" is not "later"

@loke ... It is impossible to know why so many leaders of tech companies have issues understanding the concept of "consent". Impossible.

@Anomnomnomaly Theft like this isn't enshittification. It's just destruction. Please let Doctorow have his day in the light for drawing out a truly horrendous business practice. @vwdasher I gather from the article that no one really understands Steve all that well.

@KiwiEV And it were only these two birds who ate the pizza and they still can hide their bellies. they are called neo nazis because they go neeeeooooooo as they fall past you off the mountain So, my daughter asked me about Atheism and we had a nice conversation about some common misconceptions. She asked me if I think Christians are crazy, and I feel like I put enough thought into my answer I should share it here. I don't think Christians are crazy, anymore than I would think a kid who believes in Santa is crazy. I think they got some explanations back when they were still young enough to believe in magic and they refuse to let it go. π€ Big loud billionaire rockets get all the news but NASA's Europa Clipper launched overnight and will be much more interesting https://blogs.nasa.gov/europaclipper/ @mattrobertson Real Engineering did a great video on Clipper to coincide with the launch (I watched on Nebula): If a political leader makes "growth" their major interest do you understand what that means? It means the very rich getting very much richer, zero social justice and to hell with the environment. "Growth" is a by-word for "fuck everything but the rich". @Black_Flag I get it only too well. We've become addicted to feeding the bear and overlooking that the bear has gotten fat and we are short of food. Comet Tsuchinshan viewed from Perthshire in Scotland. Finally after almost a year of waiting, the sky stayed clear just long enough to be wowed!! @MikeBolam That is a fantastic capture! We were struggling with the same haziness a little further south near Stirling. A beautiful sight to see! |
