 @Daojoan I want a pied a terre tax but this post overstates things a lot. There is no significant supply hoarding. And there is no reason to think that owner occupied housing is inherently better (edit: especially if people have to spend a huge part of their income to buy it). Many people don't have the capital to maintain a building. The basic issue is a lack of supply, especially supply of very inexpensive, durable homes for low income people.  @Chrishallbeck It isn't all right Whether it's a chino or whether it's a cargo @Chrishallbeck : If you make this into a cartoon, and then animate it, then you can sing it! People need to stop referring to "the economy" when they actually just mean "having a good job that pays the bills" or simply "having a good life where I am thriving." Because when politicians and pundits refer to "the economy" they are talking about the stock market or GDP. For too long we've accepted the lie that those things are correlated, but they aren't. Talking about "the economy" is just gaslighting. Be explicit about what you want from the people in power.

@malcircuit someone, I forget who, suggested every time we hear about "the economy" in the media we should imagine they are saying "the billionaires" and it will usually make more sense @malcircuit Saw a post a while ago saying we should replace all instances of "the Economy" with "rich people's yacht money". It works quite well for my brain and puts things into perspective. 😊 That's as good as the plastic dinosaurs are dinosaurs comic. I've cleaned out my phone, or I'd repost my steal here.  @anti_disease Ah, the perfect foil to anti-vaxxers...  I just captured a one-in-a-million image. I think it wants me to go with it to Narnia.

@gregeganSF This reminds me of Acetabularia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acetabularia), a genus of single-celled algae that are 4-10 cm tall.
