 personal opinion as a matodon admin, i hope that ATprotocol and activitypub will be able to interop at a protocol level someday soon @dansup Agree 💯 We should be thinking in terms of collaboration, not competition. The essence of federation is a union of different entities, along with shared and divided powers and responsibilities. Open means being open in every sense, especially open minded. The common foe that must be conquered is closed, corporate social. If open social is divided, then *it* will be conquered. Implementation doesn't matter as much as interoperability. I'm thinking of temporarily removing threads.net accounts from the popular accounts list on #FediDB because their follower counts include non-federating accounts. What do you think? Anonymous poll

 @dansup I've supported a "wait and see" approach to Facebook (by whatever name) on the Fedi: Wait and see if they ever decide to start acting decent, and *then* think about whether or not to federate with them. Don't hold your breath waiting. They're proven hostile. If you could tease apart how many of the followers are non-federating and exclude them from the count, then go for it, but IMHO that's far more effort than Facebook deserves.

@dansup Great! I’m still having trouble switching feeds in the TestFlight app. Where is the toggle? Just see button for local at bottom. If you see this error, you have the old/deprecated app installed. Uninstall it and get the new and improved app from https://pixelfed.org/mobile-apps You can get the APK from GitHub as well, https://github.com/pixelfed/pixelfed-rn/releases/tag/v1.0.0.68 @pixelfed got this screen and downloaded the new app but unable to log in.. it keeps redirecting me back to the login screen after approving the app after entering my account and password

May I ask the nasty questions, as much as I'd love to see a Tik Tok alternative, how do you deal with the filter/editing tools ? How do you deal with the media library (Where on Tik Tok has somehow the rights for a large sounds/music library, I feel like it's out of federated app reach to do it legally) How does Loops deal with it ? YSK: Slow timelines on Pixelfed can be fixed by enabling caching! It's disabled by default due to the overhead for small servers, however its really easy to enable and customize the TTL of the feed! Not even Meta with all its scale and data can get this right. I've seen people wrongly banned from Instagram and Facebook so many times. @pixelfed When I post using the web interface, I can add a location and add the photo to Collections. Will that be coming to the app? Also, once I've started a post, there seems to be no way to cancel it, on the app and on the web. @dansup where is a good place to get into activity pub?
