 @pixelfed Remember Duke Nukem Forever? From Wikipedia: Duke Nukem Forever began development under 3D Realms and underwent a severely protracted development that lasted 14 years. Announced in 1997 following the critical and commercial success of Duke Nukem 3D, it was delayed several times, which was attributed to engine changes, understaffing, and a lack of a development plan. Push Notifications are being rolled out to pixelfed.social TestFlight beta testers in the new build ✨  @pixelfed It would’ve been very useful if I could use Pixelfed for such a basic use case as…posting. I can’t, because if the media is too big it silently (without throwing any error or warning) fails. Correct behaviour would be to let me have and option to allow the app to automatically resize, alert me about it when I post and let me choose to do the same or at least throw an error. Content separation is healthy and not the mess we have now as popular sources Loops aims to be the #fediverse TikTok We're building it for everyone, even those who may not care about federation! The whole platform and discovery algorithm will be open source But more importantly, I'm eager to implement better safety and moderation tools to empower users and admins to create more safe, healthy and sustainable communities. We can do this better, without influencers 😎

  Push Notifications in an Expo Bare Workflow React Native app using native (APNS/FCM) gateways is one thing... But also having to support multiple origins (ie: pixelfed instances other than pixelfed.social/art) is complicated So, please bear with me as I gradually roll out push notifications to iOS on pixelfed.social, and later to Android and other instances I really appreciate your patience while we roll out this essential feature ✨ "Just checking in on my kingdom."
