@pixelfed excited to hear about the work on photo metadata!
I hope the focus on metadata and pro users will also allow for preserving the color profileยน of the photo. That's been a stumbling block for adoption for some photographers I know.
I'm also looking forward to the single user gallery thing looking to replace my photo blog with it. Keep up all the great work!
This Carousel feature would be ideal for our Collections feature.
I'm planning on supporting image uploads for collections, that don't belong to a specific post, and don't get transcoded/optimized, so you can create Collections of trips, events or whatever and have the ability to customize the presentation and even add captions.
@dansup Just curious. Is that picture from Sonia blocked on Pixelfed but visible to everyone else? Because I see someone naked as a jay bird in this thread.

Seeing posts like these is especially tough considering it was Threads new "Loops" feature that caused this delay, and now there is even more attention on the project.
I think y'all will appreciate this delay once you see and use the app for the first time.
And I run 20+ projects, but they all have my proper attention, like the recent app Push Notifications, webUI discover changes, fediDB popular accounts improvements ๐
@dansup Sorry for homeboy's response. It does suck though lol I was looking forward to it. I guess another 10 day countdown. I hope it doesn't get delayed longer ๐๐ผ Hopefully it releases as open source too so people can help you out as well.
Heye @dansup, what do you call "an open source/federated FB/Meta empire" exactly, then naming all the sotware you created ? I am not sure I caught your intent.
Also, I didnโt say a word yet about The Social Web, and I think it was better so. As it allowed me to take some distance and watch topic arises.
Iโm just a guy from Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada
If my lil @pixelfed project threatens Meta to the degree they join the fediverse, ban links or mentions of pixelfed, threaten legal action over photo filter names or copy features or side projects like Loops
@dansup@pixelfed How much money could they offer you so that you would stop working on pixelfed and/or relicense your work to Meta's copyright? Such an amount of money is likely a rounding error for them. I don't think any small open source project is considered a threat to them, only one that has major financial backing to promote and fund it. Your work is appreciated but how much is it worth to you?
@dansup per my previous toot: https://mastodon.social/@engravecavedave/113271924295802065, the level which Meta is embracing, extending, and extinguishing fedi and Pixelfed is aggressive for such a small platform (in relation to the Big Tech number of users). Like, they didn't do this as aggressively to Bluesky or Twitter back in the day. Since Zucc is the only smart billionaire imo (low bar, I know), I believe that unlike the other bigger platforms he finds fedi and the open social media it embodies to be the only legit threat

Due to recent developments, we have made the tough decision to postpone the public beta launch for 11 days.
It turns out that Meta's Threads.net platform is building a groups feature that they curiously named Loops, and we feel the need to polish the app and Loops platform further so we can maintain the communities expectations.
We hope you understand, and those of you who registered via our CryptPad form can expect an email with additional details in the next few days!
Some of you may receive early access, and we look forward to onboarding more beta testers.
