 Someone is going to fill the space, may as well be fediverse rather than the Chinese government or Mark Zuckerberg or something. I just don't know if this particular format is well suited for something that isn't driven to maximize attention span and serve ads. @rosco @raccoona_nongrata @dansup There are many TikTok creators who put a lot of time and effort into short form content that doesn’t monetize viewer attention. I think a platform like this could do well at distinguishing between a “creator” and an “influencer,” as the latter’s role is, to me, inextricably tied to profit motive while the former need not be, necessarily. TikTok without influencers? How is that even possible? The whole concept revolves around there not being any meaningful social interactions and everything you see being picked by an algorithm. And when there's a recommendation algorithm, there are influencers.
