 During the first few weeks of Loops, I want to find and assemble a team of creators who want to pursue monetization in a way that works for our platform, for example: monthly subscriptions. To build a real and sustainable alternative to TikTok will require monetization, and together with the fediverse communities voice, I think we can chart a healthy way forward that puts a majority of compensation in the hands of creators. I've never done a video interview for @pixelfed or any project before. Wouldn't it be amazing to make history with my first-ever interview on @loops, conducted by a truly Fediverse-focused media platform like @hello? Imagine the significance: the first Fediverse interview by a Fediverse-first media publication, distributed across the Fediverse itself. That would be something truly historic!   @dansup I didn't think the tiktok style looping videos was great for interview content? Only for like teasers and excerpts.. I will be submitting a #FediForum application so I can demo my new @loops app! Fingers crossed it gets accepted π€  excitiiiiing!!! I have no doubt it will be accepted but wishing you luck nonetheless ππ€β¨ looking forward to it!  @pixelfed I think our ActivityPub network will struggle with AI-based spam to a degree that will require adversarial detection at least, requiring resources that are out of reach for most instances. This will lead to a curated onboarding mentality for most instances that don't have resources to detect bots, driving more new users to bigger instances, making them even more prevalent. How do we fix this? Together. With a trusted/optional and free service for all. I'm building this, join me!

 @dansup I saw this which might offer a way to identify bots. Not sure how reliably it could be done on a programmatic basis.  There's a difference between pushing forward and burning out. That's why I'm stepping back from strict deadlines and arbitrary release dates. Pixelfed is a genuine community, not a business model. We take the time to ensure Pixelfed is authentic and reflects the values of our community. If that means delaying the release of the app to ensure proper safety tools, we'll do it without hesitation. Together, we can create something truly special, and thanks for being part of this journey! β€οΈ

@dansup I implemented federated subscriptions in Mitra, so if you're going to do that too we can interoperate. Basically, it's a private group with paid membership
Federated payments (i.e. without leaving your home server) are also supported, the protocol is based on FEP-0837.
