There's a difference between pushing forward and burning out.

That's why I'm stepping back from strict deadlines and arbitrary release dates.

Pixelfed is a genuine community, not a business model.

We take the time to ensure Pixelfed is authentic and reflects the values of our community.

If that means delaying the release of the app to ensure proper safety tools, we'll do it without hesitation.

Together, we can create something truly special, and thanks for being part of this journey!

@dansup That’s a really great decision and shows the colors of a mature professional. Your well-being shouldn’t be on the line for any kind project!

@dansup Good choice. Take your time. We love Pixelfed, and we want it to be good.

@dansup How about the Ubuntu release dates model? They always release on dates that happen on the same month every year, and "Long Time Support" versions on the same month once per two years. That way every user can prepare+plan their own upgrades when the release dates are known+predictable.

The Ubuntu team sometimes simply delay what they include in their next version instead of postponing the whole release.

No stress needed. Just skip including a thing until for example 3 releases later.

@dansup As they used to say, you can't miss quickly enough to hit. Quality takes time.

@dansup this is exactly why when software is not for profit, it's at its best.

@dansup i really appreciate this approach. prioritizing community and well-being over arbitrary deadlines is commendable. building something meaningful and sustainable takes time, and it's great to see pixelfed taking that long-term view. looking forward to seeing what comes next.

@dansup good on you. If anyone gets pushy with schedules I bet it’s because they are excited about the platform and want to see it succeed but can’t communicate that in a respectful way. You always come first ❤️

@dansup everything is a product of its time and place, if you want it to reach a certain place in the world, take the time you need

@dansup If a released date isn’t a positive thing, it has no value. Good decision!
