 I chilled out for a couple of hours and made another video for #loops. The federated version of TikTok. One small pint,I found that 30s was not enough for validating signatures. Some servers are *slow*! ActivityPub Starter Kit schema RFC, feedback appreciated!  @dansup this is a really good idea, although I wouldn't allow blocklists to be attached to starter kits with recommendations. I think the two should probably stay separate  @dansup the last time I suggested changes to a similar de facto standard, this is the discussion that followed People were very focused on RFC 5646 for the language automation

Create a Starter Kit with all your existing friends/fam and share the link or QR code and the invited person will be onboarded and auto follow all accounts in the kit, along with other auto settings. The best part is Pixelfed Starter Kits are ActivityPub objects, and will be compatible with other software! I am working on a FEP π

 @dansup @pixelfed I'm waiting since 10 months or so for a smooth integration of my Instagram posts, I just tried again and it didn't work.. again... (wrong timeline and the last 100 posts or so not at all integrated, also swiping from video to photo in a single post makes the system believe it's all just videos (and then it doesn't work at all)π (pixelfed.de). The best reason for people to quit Instagram would be to have a smooth transition imo. Please please fix this problem ππππ don't mind me, I'm over here celebrating and wondering how loops accomplished: - 9k users in its first week (a fediverse record) There were some hiccups and I'm still working on the much anticipated 8th build, but we did it! We made fediverse history together. I'm so proud β€οΈ

Remember, we're not VC backed and will be the new home to many of them when they realize how "decentralized" it is.  @dansup At this moment I donβt think we need to nitpickβ¦ people need alternatives to the Musk/Zuckerberg/Besos silo. No matter how it shakes out itβs good to encourage the movement off those platforms to either Bluesky or here. Normal people using social media have been addicted and the adtech platforms have found all our weaknesses by running large scale social experiments. How easy is it to get people off junk food and into healthy food? The only advantage of the fediverse is decentralization. Maybe this could be used to better support localized communities. People like their own places, villages, cities. But you'd need the nerds running servers π I think I could be considered trusted and established in the fediverse with my contributions outside @pixelfed @loops and @supapp like: https://fedidb.org But I don't think I'm a dick about it, I'm trying to make a better internet.

   All this being said, I will keep the door open to monetization of @loops to keep it sustainable. What I mean is that there may be features or other things that are limited to the official app and flagship instance, that will help fund sustainable long term development, one example is Live streams.  Ngl, I'm kinda blown away by the amount of 3rd party interest in @loops We don't officially support any public APIs, yet there are 5 distinct clients in development. The APIs will change, and I can't guarantee API stability at this point, so if you are one of these devs, please join our discord and get in touch. Loops won't discourage 3rd party clients, but things are moving fast!   |
