We want to be better fediverse neighbours, and will be limited some aspects of non original content, such as hashtags. More information to follow. I've decided to delay the Loops Camera feature and focus on other features so we can ship the beta ASAP! This means you will have to upload videos from your Camera Roll. You can use an app like CapCut for video editing and upload the export.  @dansup So what can we upload? I thought streaming would be devastatingly costly. Must admit, I'm not really using Pixelfed (though, because I never really had use of Instagram bevor) but I can imagine to become hocked be @loops ; ethical, open-source short video binge watching? That's going to be enticing! :BigBlobhajHug: Adding a content warning to a few FediDB.org servers known to host questionable content, we will only censor fake or inflated stats! Other sites provide no warning 😅  btw, you may notice a huge uptick of stats on https://fedidb.org this is because I removed the ban from pawoo.net, baraag.net and pravda.me, and their stats are now included in the totals I am working on a new real-time user count and a new fediverse map section, they are pretty cool and will be rolling out later today!

@dansup I'm surprised you have unbanned pravda me. Just checked and still is just a trove of russian misinformation and conspiracy theories. In the global feed, you can see the russian affiliated news media that are banned in US/EU, like RT or TASS.  @dansup Thanks for the update. Do you remember when you dropped them? I seem to recall it was around May or June 2023 bit am not completelyu sure. Also, when did you drop diaspora? I thinki t was sometime around then, or a bit earlier, when joindiaspora just down. Earlier today I had like 3 different people say the @pixelfed mobile app hasn't worked for 3 years Some of them were using the outdated app, but the others, I suspect it's related to a possible Cloudflare WAF bug Despite the negative and pointed tone, I am working to resolve these issues so the app works properly for everyone @pixelfed is for everyone, and until we resolve these small bugs, the app will remain in beta Hope you understand 😘   Let’s remember it’s not BlueSky vs the Fediverse Its walled gardens against freedom The web withers in monopoly’s shade Together we soar on the winds of freedom

 personal opinion as a matodon admin, i hope that ATprotocol and activitypub will be able to interop at a protocol level someday soon @dansup Agree 💯 We should be thinking in terms of collaboration, not competition. The essence of federation is a union of different entities, along with shared and divided powers and responsibilities. Open means being open in every sense, especially open minded. The common foe that must be conquered is closed, corporate social. If open social is divided, then *it* will be conquered. Implementation doesn't matter as much as interoperability. You can call this the social web or whatever you like, but let's be real This is the #fediverse If you don't like that name, you are free to refer to it as whatever you like But you can't walk in here with your fancy clothes and terminology and expect everyone to change the vernacular to "a more friendly term" when we've been building this magical place with our own two hands. *drops mic* *hair flip* *struts off stage* "And that's on periodt!"  @dansup I've supported a "wait and see" approach to Facebook (by whatever name) on the Fedi: Wait and see if they ever decide to start acting decent, and *then* think about whether or not to federate with them. Don't hold your breath waiting. They're proven hostile. If you could tease apart how many of the followers are non-federating and exclude them from the count, then go for it, but IMHO that's far more effort than Facebook deserves.
