 btw, you may notice a huge uptick of stats on https://fedidb.org this is because I removed the ban from pawoo.net, baraag.net and pravda.me, and their stats are now included in the totals I am working on a new real-time user count and a new fediverse map section, they are pretty cool and will be rolling out later today! 8 comments
@shadowwwind I banned them due to questionable practices in the past, but they have since addressed the issues (primarily sketchy content and lack of spam signup moderation, leading to inflated numbers, but they have since fixed from my understanding and observations)  @dansup @shadowwwind baraag's about page still leads with a discussion of the child pornography prevention act of 1996, which, uh, does raise some questions for me on the "sketchy content" front. They still haven't moderated any of the accounts we reported last year for images of adults fucking young children. @dansup @shadowwwind (I dunno whether this is relevant for fedidb's stats, was just wondering if they'd changed the behavior we banned em for) @aphyr @shadowwwind Oh dear, I wasn't aware of that. I admit I didn't look as closely as I should have, so I will be hiding that instance on fediDB @dansup I'm surprised you have unbanned pravda me. Just checked and still is just a trove of russian misinformation and conspiracy theories. In the global feed, you can see the russian affiliated news media that are banned in US/EU, like RT or TASS.  @dansup Thanks for the update. Do you remember when you dropped them? I seem to recall it was around May or June 2023 bit am not completelyu sure. Also, when did you drop diaspora? I thinki t was sometime around then, or a bit earlier, when joindiaspora just down. |
