May I ask the nasty questions, as much as I'd love to see a Tik Tok alternative, how do you deal with the filter/editing tools ? How do you deal with the media library (Where on Tik Tok has somehow the rights for a large sounds/music library, I feel like it's out of federated app reach to do it legally) How does Loops deal with it ?

  @dansup YSK: Slow timelines on Pixelfed can be fixed by enabling caching! It's disabled by default due to the overhead for small servers, however its really easy to enable and customize the TTL of the feed! I'll be updating https://docs.pixelfed.org later today with performance tips https://github.com/pixelfed/pixelfed/blob/dev/config/instance.php#L25-L41  I think it's long overdue for me to jump in those Pixelfed streets. Cheers for this. Brother During the first few weeks of Loops, I want to find and assemble a team of creators who want to pursue monetization in a way that works for our platform, for example: monthly subscriptions. To build a real and sustainable alternative to TikTok will require monetization, and together with the fediverse communities voice, I think we can chart a healthy way forward that puts a majority of compensation in the hands of creators.

@dansup serious reply: I'm still trying to figure out how I view fedi. Indieweb is part of it. My current metaphor is that my corner of the web is a scrapbook, where I can write, and glue stuff I find online, and pictures I snap, and each piece can perhaps be interacted upon. The UI/UX isn't there for it yet, but I can abstract it away in my head. It's only fair that most users won't. The fan-swarms move following the paths of lesser friction: that's (partially) why they flocked through...
