These spammers don't know who they playing with, they lucky I've been busy with Groups, Loops and Sup. Don't worry fam, a mass purge is coming, along with a next generation Autospam release that uses a shared corpus, similar to Akismet. Pixelfed takes spam seriously, most other projects ignore spam, some play cat and mouse games with captchas, meanwhile I'm aggregating data points and training our model to go nuclear. Might go live on Loops when I press the button ๐ new fav song on repeat, its #vibes and very demure Can we maybe not have AI solve human problems though. Not even Meta with all its scale and data can get this right. I've seen people wrongly banned from Instagram and Facebook so many times. You know, I'm kinda surprised that Mastodon doesn't employ a media storage structure like @pixelfed What I mean is that in Pixelfed, we store media in per-user buckets/directories, allowing for easy mass deletion with a single request. I wonder if they will update this to make it easier to mass purge account media ๐ง Behind the Pixels Curious about how we keep your media safe & organized on Pixelfed? It's all thanks to a clever combo of profile IDs & random hashes โ think of it like a secret code for your pics & vids! This not only protects your stuff but also makes it super easy to manage. For Stories, we even rotate media urls periodically! @dansup safety should come from access control rather than randomness. Unpredictability isnโt access control because like unlisted YouTube videos, once you know the random URL, you would be able to view it. The topic of file safety is incomplete without mentioning access control @dansup https://uuid7.com/ includes the year/month so you could just drop that whole folder. So much pop culture comes from the Black and Brown dolls (tea, shade), but they rarely get the credit, let alone the coins. @dansup where is a good place to get into activity pub? Where do I start if I want to learn more about it and how you can use it in programs/code? ๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง

I haven't even finished photo albums federation in Smithereen yet, but it already shows them so neatly @js if I may make a suggestion related to one of my projects: I output Image objects that have the image binary data encoded in the Content property with base64. BrowserPub could transform this to an actual image. An example of what I mean: https://browser.pub/https%3A%2F%2Fmarius.federated.id%2Foutbox%2F2%2Fobject Sometimes a silly question simmers in your mind for years till a few internet friends come along and turn it into something more concrete: the @FediverseSymbol is an initiative to promote the asterism symbol โ as a way to reference the fediverse more generally. Check out https://symbol.fediverse.info and feel free to get involved however you see fit!

@liaizon I really don't know why there must be an other symbol. We have one in the #Fediverse quite a long time. No, I don't see why to replace it.
@FediverseSymbol Hey guys, we are testing a new website that allows you to easily join instances, and connect with the vidzy project in many ways. Please give your feedback down below before we make this new website the default! ActivityPub Filter System Inspired by Pleroma (MRF) and Cloudflare (WAF), this new @pixelfed feature will help improve safety and moderation by empowering admins with fine-grained tools like these. Better yet, you will be able to easily import/export rules and I'm working on a FEP so other projects can add support using a common vocab. Available soon โจ I would be pretty surprised if this didn't come with some significant performance issues (probably somewhat fixable) โ also wondering if you've looked at something like SQRL language & runtime? You'll also likely want a warning about the scunthorpe problem & to just move matching activities to a manual approval queue (rather than dropping completely)

@FediverseSymbol I generally like the idea for a unicode symbol for the Fediverse, though I'd not replace the pentagram with it, but use both, depending on the use case. What I definitely don't like is this top down approach. "Hey, here is a new symbol for the Fediverse. Spread it!". Shouldn't this be a democratic process? @FediverseSymbol I feel like the colors in the default logo are important. For me it represent different instances with different purposes. Mastodon isn't just a cluster of servers talking to each other, it's the people using it - which is represented by colors nicely right now. |
