Oh it looks like vernissage doesn't implement webfinger/nodeinfo, that is causing issues with @pixelfed @mczachurski do you have a dev chat, or want to join ours? https://docs.pixelfed.org/project/community.html I'm investigating a weird federation issue with vernissage, their instance is not only being blocked by eero/my ISP, but there is something preventing my server from properly fetching/interacting. I'm talking with @mczachurski about this, and I hope y'all know this isn't intentional or some vendetta. Competition is healthy, and I hope you know i'd never resort to such petty behaviour. That being said, I can't explain this, and hope to have an update soon! The new @pixelfed landing pages are ICONIC! Admins can easily curate the landing page content, or delegate it to default trending and "auto discovery" which uses a cleverly simple algo to surface both upcoming users and existing ones Guests will be able to browse, explore, search and join with ease. Admins will have a whole new way to customize their onboarding experience, and yes, there will be a form builder with custom fields π π Please say that accounts are being promoted by the algo based on something more relevance based than who's already popular (because they were already promoted to everyone based on already being popular). We can do better than that (and hopefully you already are!π€ ) Admins have to manually assign related hashtags in @pixelfed atm, but I am thinking of clever ways we can automate this. One idea is for users to suggest to admins these related tags, and another is to automate this to a degree with a scheduled job that finds new suggestions that meet admin defined threshold and presents them for admin approval. Discovery is tricky, but features like these make it better! β¨ I never liked Ian but when Tyler the Creator went all "get off my lawn" it made me respect Ian The culture changes, and the moment you lose your grip, you become the antithesis to your humble beginnings A tale as old as time, "these youth aint right" What are your thoughts on Domain Block appeals and meta-moderation discussions? Not every domain block needs to be permanent, I think @pixelfed should build a mechanism that allows admins to work to resolve disputes (via AP) and re-open federation in some cases, while maintaining the ability to permanently block domains. In addition, being able to request more details in a remote report would be nice, the request would be sent to admins ofc Feedback wanted!

I don't think you could do appeals via AP once they are already defederated, since that cuts all ties. You could do something like a defederation warning, but maybe that's even too late, which is why I'm looking at enabling communication on reports via the notes functionality: https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/27562 @dansup ignorant feedback: if a domain is unblocked what happens to old posts? I would not want problematic posts to resurface after a community has dealt with the issue. Is effective dating possible so that a boost (after re-federation) of an old post doesnβt federate that old post to the community that has recently unblocked the domain? ActivityPub Filter System Inspired by Pleroma (MRF) and Cloudflare (WAF), this new @pixelfed feature will help improve safety and moderation by empowering admins with fine-grained tools like these. Better yet, you will be able to easily import/export rules and I'm working on a FEP so other projects can add support using a common vocab. Available soon β¨ I would be pretty surprised if this didn't come with some significant performance issues (probably somewhat fixable) β also wondering if you've looked at something like SQRL language & runtime? You'll also likely want a warning about the scunthorpe problem & to just move matching activities to a manual approval queue (rather than dropping completely)

First time seeing this warning on a fediverse site, I'm having issues federating with it too. The admin DM'd me asking if I blocked it, and after some investigation there is something weird going on. @dansup I use an eero as well on my network, running my server from home. Do you get this error from my instance? π€ π Let's squash those bugs! π We're kicking off a bug fix sprint for the mobile app. Please report any issues you find here: https://github.com/pixelfed/pixelfed-rn/issues (avoid duplicating existing reports). We appreciate your help in making the app even better! We still have a few demo slots. What's a cool Fediverse application or platform that we should invite to demo at #FediForum ? Pixelfed.de is a general Pixelfed server and one of the longest-running, established in 2018: :Fediverse: https://pixelfed.de It can be used in English or German. Pixelfed is the Fediverse's photo sharing platform, you can find out more about it at https://fedi.tips/pixelfed-photo-sharing-on-the-fediverse

Just upgraded to 1.0.0.67 on Android. Looking forward to the dark theme. This app just gets better. Keep up the great work! @dansup @pixelfed Hey Dan, do you only use mastodon.social, or do you have your own mastodon instance? I'm asking because my work blocks Mastodon.Social and on pixelfed I can't see your posts as a result. I can see them here, which is strange, but no on pixelfed. Perhaps mastodon serves up data and media in a proxy-like system that pixelfed doesn't? @dansup @pixelfed Could you have a look at the performance as well? Cause load times are absolutely appalling.... (see attachment). Your previous beta (the one that had dark mode) had this fixed after you'd refactored something in it . Not sure what you did to the new release, but it's quite unusable... Pixelfed app (v1.0.0.68) is now available! β¨ - Fixed comment reply input https://github.com/pixelfed/pixelfed-rn/releases/tag/v1.0.0.68 @pixelfed Hi Dan, wasn't there an update feature within the app? Can't find it anymore.. π€ @pixelfed I was trying to figure out how to update from an old downloaded version to the android public beta. Any special tricks, aside from requesting to join the beta? Pixelfed app (v1.0.0.68) will be released shortly with a fix for comment replies on Android! Sorry about that!
