Mastodon is financed by crowdfunding instead of venture capital not because we don't know that venture capital exists, not because we don't have bills to pay, and not because venture capital isn't willing to give money to new social media platforms. VCs don't want a sustainable business, they want a big exit. Every VC-backed business is on a timer to deliver or die.

 @Gargron Good to see this place apparently saw Ello was little more than a speed bump and isn’t repeating history. Bluesky now owned by crypto-grifters. My "we will not hyperfinancialize the social experience through tokens, crypto trading or NFTs" t-shirt has people asking a lot of questions already answered by my t-shirt.

Still working on app approval, will post an update on the APK tonight!  I found some big lumps on my dog and I'm numb. He's my best friend, I can't lose him 😭 We're taking him to the vet tomorrow and I hope it's nothing serious. It's gunna be ok bud Delegating moderation and later community management will allow me to focus on doing what I do best: shipping code! Loops isn't mine to control, it belongs to the community. You will help steward the direction we take, and while I'm captain, I do take good care of my guests 🚀 Loops.video will need mods, and I'm building a suite of mod tools. I'm open to feedback, and will setup a form on the website for mod applications, I'm looking for trusted and established people that either already moderate or admin an instance. The amount of work will depend on activity, and most of the reports I will handle depending on load, with you sometimes deciding on a user appeal, with the ability to veto my initial decision. Mods will have more power than me, as they should!

Will you delete data, or just 'mark deleted' as the commercial providers do? How will this work when federation comes into play? Of course you can't stop other instances from copying the videos, but will you actually transmit a deletion request?

  I received the welcome email on Monday but haven't received the follow up email on how to download the Android app and login. Loops Update: I'm nearly finished the Help Center and legal docs that are requirements for inclusion into the App Store and Play Store. I'll share another update in 12 hours with more info and hopefully an ETA

  Creating legal documents like Privacy Policies and Terms of Service is so complicated now, but I think that's a good thing as more regions codify privacy into law. I'm currently drafting these legal docs for Loops, and it feels good to state we aren't using Google Analytics or user tracking, aren't selling data to 3rd parties and don't include 3rd party ads. What are olfactory recordings/data??? Have we perfected the science of smell to a degree we can capture it and convert it to data??  Thanks IG for deprecating the Basic Display API, now I get to work with even more of your amazing APIs at work 😩 Now the work day is over, my shift at Loops begins 🤘 Loops doesn't have a webUI, it's only accessible via the mobile app. We will add the webUI later, but we are focused on the mobile experience first.  @dansup currently I even don't receive any email confirmations about creating account   @dansup It's been a couple of days since I registered. How are things going on your end? If it helps, I could create a new account. Turns out KeePassium clears your clipboard after 60 seconds, so I forgot my password anyway. The @loops Android APK will be shared in the next 24 hours. If you signed up early via the Cryptpad, you will need to do a password reset (once available) as we never collected a password. I like with the separate view you can make the UX as clear as possible without needing to worry about UI clutter.
