Or are they pulled directly from origin / remotely?

  It seems like removing the Lemmy spam logic in https://fedidb.org led to a few obvious lemmy instances with huge spam counts being treated as accurate. I wish lemmy got their shit together, not a good look fam Just going to re-add the lemmy fix, idc if lemmy.ml user count gets treated as spam, this is pathetic.  @dansup Beehaw.org's admins also published a post last week moaning about their suggestions for improvement to Lemmy just not being taken up, and that the Lemmy devs are really slow to improve spam management, etc. Beehaw was contemplating forking off from Lemmy, or starting their own network (hopefully ActivityPub I commented).

  @dansup everyone and their grandma donning a chat client seems to be doing an overhaul these days - like there's an upcoming Prom of Chatclients real soon now. And everybody hates their new clothes. I just want to mention that Mastodon has set the gold standard for this. We take a lot for granted, like the MastoAPI, Webfinger, and sharedInbox. These are not defined in the ActivityPub spec, these were contributed by Mastodon/Gargron. The sharedInbox extension enables instances these large, which is a good thing, most people don't want to install Mastodon to have to use it. I do run 2 other @pixelfed instances besides https://pixelfed.social - https://piconic.co I plan on opening up registration once the moderated registration feature is ready Similar to Mastodon manual review sign-ups, :pixelfed: admins will be able to review #pixelfed registration applications "i'm really thinking about deinstalling pixelfed" It was unfortunate to see this, especially from someone who's been with us for a few years I admit I've been so busy with FediDB, Sup, PubKit and other projects that I haven't given @pixelfed the attention it deserves lately I was able to resolve most of their complaints, and I'm working on fixing a long standing bug affecting multiple filters on the WebUI I'll do better to balance my resources, please bear with me ❤️ #pixelfed Fixed and updated, https://fedidb.org graph irregularities are gone!  @dansup Looks much better! It's super tricky. One thing I spotted: the MAU MoM looks like it's increased in the graph, but shows negative in the top - shouldn't it be +110k vs -225k? @dansup does the instances search rely on searching from start of the domain?
e.g. I can’t search “.sg” and have all instances that end with the .sg TLD come up, and “sg” doesn’t seem to actually filter much results if any
@dansup All cool, but if i select any specific platform like mastodon.uno the graphs shows only the last 14 days, which (unsurprisingly) make them look flat ➡️
