I get that Pixelfed can be seen by some as "unfinished" or "missing features" but consider this, most feature requests have been implemented, some of the big ones:

- Photo filters (web + app)
- Official Mobile app
- Spam mitigation (Autospam)
- MastoAPI support (you can use any mastodon app with Pixelfed)
- Account Migration
- Hashtag Following
- Domain Blocks
- Federated Stories
- Disabled Comments
- Curated Onboarding
- Live streaming
- Admin Invites

We listen, and we ship 🚀

@dansup You are right. There is not a feature in Pixelfed, that I miss. It's only a bit of UI polishing, that might be a matter of personal taste:

- I think comments are a clutter but ok.
- Pictures in the timeline are barely not a square and I don't know why. (In the app)
- Exploring should also be a timeline, so you can scroll and like the greatest pictures.

But that's all. Everything else is great and works the way I like it.

@dansup I'd like to be able to translate. It's been 3 years since Crowdin was lat synchronized.

@dansup Hey, is the Pixelfed android app open source? Can I find the source code anywhere? :BigBlobhajHug:

@dansup sorry to bother you but uh, my mastodon client needs this github.com/pixelfed/pixelfed/i thanks! 🙏

@dansup I don't think it's unfinished at all. I love how well it is made and would love my friends (and clients) to move to pixelfed as well. It's such a pleasant experience to not have to struggle with big tech enshittified algorithms. There are 1-2 UI /UX things that could make the app and web interface an even rounder experience, but I'm sure they will be done at some point. I love how transparent you are with the development. #gopixelfed

@dansup Have you given any thought to implementing the alt text tool that Ice Cubes (a Mastodon client) implemented? Lets one use an llm service to fill in the alt text.

@dansup You deserve all the praise for the time and work you put into the Pixelfed project. There's no denying all your efforts at all ...

Also agree with all the feedback you received from @daj @NafiTheBear @terrencefoxfur @lutoma and others

From what I can tell, you are working on: sups, loops, hosted service along with managing several other sites. You are spread thin so many concerns are about prioritizing and addressing issues rather than missing features

@dansup I'd like to smoke whatever the people who criticize Pixelfed as "unfinished" are smoking!

@dansup Overall I agree.
I think where people get this idea of pixelfed being unfinished is at least 2 areas:

- the UX of the mobile apps is incredibly rough still. Not unusable but needs polish
- it’s not easy to contribute to the project. Some of the code isn’t published yet while some is there but you have major revisions you’re working on that make it harder to judge whether you should jump in.

I’ve this itch to jump in and help out but it’s not approachable for me.

@dansup the app not available in the appstore is probably my main concern. Not to say the app have no ability to apply any filter not even crop the image (at least on iOS). Not to say it was also promised to be opensource. After many months i still don’t understand the reason for this.
