Очень нравится этот квартал: симпатичные таунхаусы, открываешь окно - а там речка журчит. Через неё - шорох гравия на дорожке от неспешных шагов прохожих, шелест велосипедных шин, пение птиц. И это - самый центр

OK #Linux community, listen up. MS have done it again and people are looking for a way out. DON'T TREAT NEWBIES LIKE SHIT. DON'T ATTACK PEOPLE FOR ASKING QUESTIONS. DON'T ATTACK PEOPLE FOR HAVING PROBLEMS. DON'T TELL PEOPLE TO "GOOGLE IT" WHEN THEY COULDN'T POSSIBLY KNOW WHAT TO SEARCH FOR, OR HOW TO INTERPRET THE RESULTS THEY'D FIND. DON'T BE A DICK. :PicardComeOn:

@PurpleJillybeans - and remember, most computer users by far have neither intention nor desire to become IT specialists, programmers, developers or sysadmins - they just need a tool for living in a digital world. Just like every driver doesn't also have to be an auto mechanic. NVIDIA officially doesn't suck on Linux anymore, the drivers are still proprietary but at least they work https://9to5linux.com/nvidia-555-beta-linux-graphics-driver-released-with-explicit-sync-support @BrodieOnLinux Yeah, been using Linux since '98. I predict the next such "nvidia finally works right on Linux" announcement will be spotted sometime in 2031. KDE Plasma Constantly Stuttering, Try This!! #Linux #YouTube https://youtu.be/sCoioLCT5_o I didn't think of this earlier but a comment mentioned you could also move the .cache or at least the .cache/kwin/qmlcache into a tmpfs, I have not extensively tested this so I can't say if there are any unintended side effects @BrodieOnLinux I don't think it would be possible to cheaply prove that there are undesirable side effects. If one big application is using the .cache directory to store data the user really needs across reboots, then you personally might not use that application and be hurt by its data loss, but somebody else could lose one computer boot's worth of data that way - which could be quite a lot. We've created a Matrix room to chat about HackerBoards, single board computers, life, and the universe in general. Will you join us? :linux: 👀

@molly0xfff The thing is there is this software called rewind and I really like it. @molly0xfff @MaZderMind das kam jetzt so oft durch die verschiedenen News Portale, dass ich meine letzte Windowsbastion — die Gamingkiste — auch mal testweise auf Ubuntu umziehe. Danke für den Anstoß 😁 Why would you want to do this?
Enabling Tor federation means that there are more instances available to federate when creating an instance anonymously through the darknet. This makes the fediverse significantly more accessible, especially for those in countries with more restrictive local laws regarding speech. - Я всю жизнь мечтала работать за прилавком Почтамта! Моя бабушка всему меня обучила, нас даже кормили лимонами, чтобы натренировать выражение лица!:neofox_googly_woozy: #ФедиЧитает finally upgraded to kde 6, which defaulted to a wayland session, giving me my very first wayland experience: crashing back to the login screen without even making it far enough to draw wallpaper @eevee I wanted to give the ol' "let's see if the Linux desktop experience is viable for me" another try on the weekend and immediately failed at "every window is flickering" among other issues, precisely because the nvidia driver is apparently very broken with Wayland and the only workaround is going back to X, which... Plasma 6 dropped. Oh well, maybe in another year. |
