I didn’t get on the TestFlight but been an Ultra user since day 1 and I’ve loved using Reddit because of your app. It’s been an inspiration for some of my apps, especially my Hacker News app Hackers. I think it really set the standard for how we interact with threaded messages on iOS.

@christianselig I'm truly gutted to hear about the impending closure of Apollo. This move from Reddit is troubling - indicative of a disconcerting trend where small developers and the spirit of open internet are being stifled.

I suppose the essential question is whether Reddit can maintain its appeal to its user base in the face of these changes, or if this might open up a vacuum for a new platform to rise and succeed where others have faltered.

@christianselig this has made me so sad. Subscription pricing and more has become a fact of life lately but to be priced out an underhanded and frankly harsh way is killing indie developers. Client based app development seems to becoming a thing of the past.

Like others, I’ll be leaving reddit as well. Corporations need to earn to succeed, I get that, but the greed to snuff out the little guy will be their undoing. @christianselig Sorry to here and best of luck moving forward. I winced a little every time I saw Apollo mentioned in the WWDC keynote. If that didn’t show Reddit they were making a huge mistake I don’t know what would.

I hope like with Twitter, this creates a tipping point that leads to a new, better, network where Apollo can rise and live again… and Reddit crashes and burns.

@christianselig 6 years and 8 month ago I created a Reddit account specifically because of Apollo and on June 30th I will go done with Apollo. It makes me sad that one of the best apps on the AppStore (Apple seems to think so to) will just vanish because of greed and dishonesty.
