You ever have pictures on your phone where you can see your computer's screen from long ago, and you catch a glimpse of people you were talking to back then who are no longer around. Wild @Gargron Nope, but it's a lot of scary screens showing Windows XP, which is weird enough. So many of my friends were, as I'd call it, consumed by relationships. And many of those who were not, moved abroad. It's depressing tbh. Once again, headache... Maybe it's the weather, it's thrashing between cold and hot all the time

@Gargron FWIW s a long-time sufferer from migraines, I long thought it was induced by the weather; but it turned out to be gluten of all things. @Gargron A neurologist who specializes in headaches could help. There are lots of ways to treat chronic headaches & migraines. Also, be careful of taking pain medicine too often, because it can cause rebound headaches. wake me up when there's a new Yellow Magic Orchestra album > JAPANESE GENTLEMAN, STAND UP PLEASE! Pain of Salvation - Keen to a Fault https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_IaCfG5HKc #np From their recently released album Panther... It still puzzles me that a trend of drawing every day of a month must have a creator/owner/trademark... @Gargron you think of something cute to do, it gains traction, you try to capitalize @Gargron It doesn't. It never did. And it definitely doesn't need to have people who published their complied drawings for the trend screwed over by the retroactive "protection" of the trademark. If this thing actually allows people to regain control over their lost motor functions that's pretty damn cool.

@Gargron And/or fine tune control over prothetics (maybe even with touch/force feedback??) I don't even like Doctor Who anymore but I've seen enough Doctor Who to never want to implant any devices into my skull

It's not uncommon for tweets to reach HN frontpage but I think it's a first for a Mastodon post to reach HN frontpage and that's kind of a milestone.

Genuinely love stumbling onto a random site and seeing a link to their Mastodon profile in the footer @Gargron I replaced the link to my Twitter profile with a link to my Mastodon profile on my blog almost two years ago: @Gargron my site is currently the most boring stub of a site ever but had to add mastodon first thing https://oliverbenning.com

@Gargron @darius that is.....a bizarre UX decision
Like I know finding unique usernames on the internet is getting increasingly difficult, but this doesn’t feel like its actually solving that problem—if anything restricting people to the FirstLast12345 format is reducing the total number of learnable usernames
@Gargron @darius that’s what a bot or troll would post
@Gargron @darius Interesting, but people with these kinds of usernames generally only get dismissed as "bots" after also exhibiting disagreeable behaviour or opinions.
