@dansup maybe. Yet I use it. Not to indicate the online space that fedizens span up, but the suite of protocols that allow that. I recently started to make distinction between fedi and Fediverse as well, btw.
@dansup for me, everything after lover has been a lot more low key and less fun than before. I don't dislike the newer stuff, still own all of it, but I find the pre-2020 content a lot more enjoyable.
@dansup@pixelfed vertical spacing between the buttons & tabs could be greater: I'm certain I'd accidentally press a button when I wanted a tab with my current long nails.
@dansup Elon saying shit about a product means either two things : - he or someone he knows wants to buy this product's company's stock - he or someone he knows wants to sell another similar product (or make the other product's company's stock rise)
@dansup If you're vying/backing up Signal Protocol then I am again at peace that I'm really using a good privacy-conscious messaging app. I couldn't do the audit of the protocol myself, so I am relying on individuals I put my trust with to actually verify it. Thank you very much.
I’m not an expert when it comes to encryption by any means, but from my work on Sup and my knowledge of the Signal protocol, I’m confident that the lies Elon and Telegram are spreading are unfounded.
You can review the Signal protocol to see for yourself, like they (Elon and them) would be pointing to smoking gun vulnerable code if they had any real dirt, but I’ve yet to see any 😉
@dansup Main Signal "vulnerabilities" according to Musk, Durov and Carlson: 1) The company's president is a woman 2) She's vocal about AI inherent risks and biases 3) She supports unions 4) She's not Russian 5) She's a woman.
Did someone say “Telegram”? [Crashes into the thread like the Kool-Aid man]
Please do not use #Telegram Messenger for any message that you would not want to see on the side of a building. Don't take my word for it, listen to these folks.
Here's Dan Goodin (@dangoodin) in Ars Technica summarizing an exploit discovered by Ahmed Hassan:
"Using readily available software and a rooted Android device, he’s able to spoof the location his device reports to Telegram servers. By using just three different locations and measuring the corresponding distance reported by People Nearby, he is able to pinpoint a user’s precise location."
Independent security researcher The Grugq (@thegrugq) on Telegram's many problems:
"In summary, Telegram is error prone, has wonky homebrew encryption, leaks voluminous metadata, steals the address book, and is now known as a terrorist hangout. I couldn’t possibly think of a worse combination for a safe messenger."

as a security practitioner, i can no longer legitimize telegram given their latest behavior of attacking actual legitimate secure messaging tools
i was already planning to delete my account at the end of the month over the nazi thing, but i am not going to tolerate a bunch of useless rich-ass techbros (durov and musk in this case) bullying @Mer__edith who is one of the most empathetic people in this industry and who runs an absolutely solid team who cares extensively about the safety and security of the users of their product
i don't care if "all the furries are still there" anymore. i won't be. i'm done with this.

@dansup both iOS and Android coming soon?
@dansup is there any chance to see reblogs in the app anytime soon?
