Personally, I think the internet will still exist in some form, with an interplanetary network that connects to the Moon and Mars bases
We can't imagine the tech that will exist then, but I think it's safe to say the social media landscape would be quite different in ways that's hard to envision
Tbh, I hope we see life extending drugs so we can witness this first hand, because we are living in such a pivotal time and if there was some way I could be an astronaut, I'd leave this behind in a min
@dansup there unfortunately are some physics limitations for interplanetary internet. Light travelling from Earth to the Moon takes about a second, which as far as we know is the speed limit of the universe. That means at minimum there is about a second of delay for all internet traffic between Earth and the Moon. For Mars, it's about 3 minutes with the same limitation. While most of the time this probably wouldn't be an issue, it could pose problems for applications that require real-time communication with minimal latency, such as online games and video calls.
