My brother said a few people have asked him about pixelfed because my niece keeps telling people about it.
She is still my #1 :pixelfed: fan :blobaww:
My brother said a few people have asked him about pixelfed because my niece keeps telling people about it. She is still my #1 :pixelfed: fan :blobaww: Ok #Fediverse, my 7yo son wants to be a 'YouTuber' ๐คฎ ๐ข I am telling him that #PeerTube and #Pixelfed are the way. After a year of posting @arthen he has 11 followers. After a few months on @tremytwr he has 2 subscribers (both are me). Make a little boy happy and give him a follow ๐ let's show him the future is federated!!

@davidoclubb Seeing what happened with cohost I'm so glad I turned down VC funding for @pixelfed We can grow sustainably, without sacrificing the mission or our ethics! Pixelfed is proudly funded by people like you โจ Burnout is real, and was almost detrimental to @pixelfed A few weeks ago I was near my breaking point Trying to ship the mobile app, Groups, Sup, PubKit and Loops simultaneously Thankfully I was able to recognize this and so I slowed down, took time off and eliminated all expectations regarding self imposed deadlines! Now I can focus on what I do best: coding Sometimes you have to admit you can't do it all at once, and that's okay! Us devs need to take care of ourselves, so we can help u

A fediverse web browser would be cool Or a fediverse team building a Chrome/FF successor BlueSky and Nostr are neat and have a lot of users, but the fediverse is where you'd expect this from I'm so tired of Chrome ๐

#ReactNative devs: What's your favourite RN logging/observability service? I need one, preferably that is self-hostable or offers open source discounts! I know I've said it before, but it really do be special that the fediverse evokes a more humane and humble experience! Nobody cares how many followers you have, what matters is how respectful you are to members of our community I love that there is a "trend" of fediverse lead devs being approachable and respectful as anyone else, like, we're just people too, and we're trying to get this right, so let's get rid of the egos and focus on fixing social media! We're all in this together โค๏ธ My advice to new fediverse projects: - create a project account to post updates

@dansup @benroyce do not tease updates. It's frustrating for users and you'll find you quickly use up your goodwill and get a reputation as someone who promises a lot and delivers little. Pre-release builds are great and when they're ready, they're ready. But take the rebuild of the PixelFed app for example, the excitement and support was through the roof and by the time a build finally came around it was just side-eye and feeling incredibly underwhelmed. @dansup thoughts about follower counts: why do we still keep them? I did some IG this week to promote a new community I'm building up right now and noticed after a day that my follower count dropped. Of course I felt bad specially as it's work from my heart that I was promoting. And very likely it was just 2 bots being closed. But I asked myself why do we keep track on those? Why not round the number up to the next 10s or 50s or so for more peace. 1/2 @dansup come hang out with us at @fediforum tomorrow! We'd love to get your advice and insight โค๏ธ

Are you considering whether licences could be added / tagged to content to make it clear content can be used? - Is that relevant? @MastodonEngineering @EC_NGI Where do I sign up to become notified once there is a spec regarding ascension from Relay to Provider? @MastodonEngineering @EC_NGI so cool! And will the moderation tools get some work too, to help people manage their communities? As a kid I was always told that cats and dogs don't get along well, but so far I've only seen the opposite Flickr, Instagram, 500px, Unsplash and BeReal are ok photo sharing platforms But, they are walled gardens, aren't open source and don't federate @pixelfed is in the perfect place, at the right time, to be able to disrupt this status quo We don't have investors, all we have is people, and together we can fix this The fediverse is a revolution, empowering the people, and reclaiming the digital landscape from the walled gardens No more settling, it's our time now โจ

@dansup if any of those services started federating, but remained closed source, would that change your opinion? I ask because Iโm working on something that is closed source, but will begin beta testing federation next week ๐ People over profits is the real magic of fedi We're building the future โจ No shareholders. Just people. Yeah, we'll probably see monetization and corporate interests join the fedi, and that's okay because the power of the protocol lies in choice And the best fediverse platforms are open source and mostly good stewards of AP interop Y'all made this happen, us devs can only take so much credit โค๏ธ

@dansup the natural state of the web and other technologies is federated. Think DNS, Web, Mobile, Email and now social media. Monetisation is not a dirty word because creators, developers, admins etc need to keep the servers on and the apps developing but profit maximisation above all else just for shareholders is not the goal of the fediverse. Money is another industry that needs federation. e.g bitcoin micropayments called SATs sent P2P over the lightning network is the future. A little shout out and appreciation about https://fedidb.org (@fedidb) which is an amazing tool to explore the #Fediverse, huge thank you @dansup ! ๐

BTW I have some issue to upgrade old version (v0.11.12), where I can find some help? Or is somewhere upgrade guide for that old versions? |
@dansup it's a really good work after all
