Burnout is real, and was almost detrimental to @pixelfed

A few weeks ago I was near my breaking point

Trying to ship the mobile app, Groups, Sup, PubKit and Loops simultaneously

Thankfully I was able to recognize this and so I slowed down, took time off and eliminated all expectations regarding self imposed deadlines!

Now I can focus on what I do best: coding

Sometimes you have to admit you can't do it all at once, and that's okay!

Us devs need to take care of ourselves, so we can help u

@dansup It's good that you have recognised your own limits. I wish you suitable helpers for your projects and good health for you. @pixelfed

@dansup @pixelfed very good you recognize this up front!

I'm always surprised how much you are able to achieve as a single developer. Let alone across even all those projects simultaneously. That is also not feasible long term.

I myself are also coding every day, more than 9 hours per day. And often also weekends. Plus I have a full time job on top of the open source projects.
I'm asking myself as well often, how can we make open source dev more sustainable? I have seen many good people leave.

I feel that! Sometimes time management is really hard in technology because the needs of technology to be made, moved, maintained or updated will frequently take precedence over our own schedule.

@dansup @pixelfed Move slow, build good things, empower and connect people.

Thanks for your work, take care.

@dansup @pixelfed take care. Nothing's worth a burnout! Love you work!

Take care of yourself. What you're doing is more like a marathon than a sprint, so you need pacing. And maybe a team? Can you delegate more?
