My advice to new fediverse projects:

- create a project account to post updates
- prioritize marketing
- tease pre-release updates
- leverage your network to boost posts
- reach out to me or other fedidevs for advice and help
- find your early core user base and give their feedback more precedence
- request feedback
- respond to criticism with a goal of resolution, don't take it personally, they probably want it fixed just as much as you do
- don't let follower counts inflate your ego, we equal

@dansup Have a clear launchdate and don't tease for months on end 😉

@dansup My advice? Work hard, until after Nov. 5, to get Kamala Harris elected. Otherwise, everything gets upended, including all business, regardless of what nation it's based or operating in.

@dansup @benroyce do not tease updates. It's frustrating for users and you'll find you quickly use up your goodwill and get a reputation as someone who promises a lot and delivers little. Pre-release builds are great and when they're ready, they're ready. But take the rebuild of the PixelFed app for example, the excitement and support was through the roof and by the time a build finally came around it was just side-eye and feeling incredibly underwhelmed.

@dansup thoughts about follower counts: why do we still keep them?

I did some IG this week to promote a new community I'm building up right now and noticed after a day that my follower count dropped. Of course I felt bad specially as it's work from my heart that I was promoting. And very likely it was just 2 bots being closed. But I asked myself why do we keep track on those? Why not round the number up to the next 10s or 50s or so for more peace.
