I may have to move fedidb.org to a bigger vps, it's starting to reach the limits of the 2vcpu/4G ram droplet π
Aggressive caching and staggered scheduled jobs are the duct tape holding it together atm haha
I may have to move fedidb.org to a bigger vps, it's starting to reach the limits of the 2vcpu/4G ram droplet π Aggressive caching and staggered scheduled jobs are the duct tape holding it together atm haha I don't know what it is about this song, but I recently stumbled upon it and can't stop listening to it. Won't be surprised if my Spotify Rewind lists this as my most listened to song this year Present Tense - Radiohead

@dansup normal, it's Radiohead! :blobaww: I've had the same effect with most of the band's discography β¨ More https://fedidb.org improvements! The top 20 lists on the home page are now updating more frequently, and look better on mobile devices/smaller screens! A few more improvements will be shipping shortly π #fedidb My goals for this weekend: β‘ Fixed Import from IG

@dansup Thanks a lot for fixing my IG import situation. All 400+ imported perfectly and working well, without any deletion nor re-importation being necessary. Wow, the #threadiverse growth is still going strong! Lemmy should overtake @pixelfed in terms of total users over the next 24 hours! Great job reddit π I had to add two new levels of caching to fediDB in order to improve real-time/ttl stats/graphs. It's somewhat of a tricky problem to cache graph data while also trying to display the most up-to-date data. There is a lot of data that fediDB has collected over the years, and as it grows, it becomes more "expensive" to organize. I should write a blog post about this, I love solving problems like these, I usually end up learning something new! That being said, one of the cache levels is database driven, and i haven't tested it enough, it ironically may cache stale data so I'll look into that tomorrow lol It's almost 9am and I work in a couple hours, so please bear with me Lot's of improvements to https://fedidb.org, including self-submission, more real-time stats, and a special page for our reddit friends!

Sorry if I donβt respond to your comments, I get a lot of notifications and Iβm trying to ship a big update to fedidb before I hit the hay @dansup Aviate, navigate, communicate - what goes for aviation goes for software releases I guess! I deleted my previous post about Meta/IG, because I don't want to cause unnecessary drama or jump to conclusions. I'm looking forward to them joining the fediverse, and hope it all works out!

@dansup I am certainly not looking forward to it, and sincerely doubt it will work out for anyone other than Metaβs shareholders. @dansup im looking forward to putting my hand into alligator's mouth, and hope it all works out! I gotta admit, the Autospam detection in @pixelfed is much better since I added the AI algorithm! Feels good knowing we have the best spam mitigation across the #fediverse Look forward to sharing how we did this, and our future plans, in an upcoming https://pixelfed.blog post

@dansup @pixelfed Interesting point of fact, since properly training SpamAssassin's bayesian filters, 20 (wrote 15β¦ then checked myself) years ago, I have never received any false-negative spam. Could a heuristic system like SA's not be repurposed? (Unless you count Bayesian statistical analysis as AI, of course.) I'll be sure to watch for the post! Lot's of improvements coming to https://fedidb.org! Some highlights: Shipping soon! π Edit: Shipped!! @dansup It sure looks pretty! Is there a way to make the vertical axis start at 0? Graphs that don't start at 0 when showing numbers aren't intuitive and trustworthy. Working on some https://fedidb.org updates! For those following the lemmy/kbin influx, I'll have something extra special π Instagram blocked the #joinPixelfed hashtag not long ago, and Twitter too. Don't forget that π

I can probably tweak the database config as that is the bottleneck, though with 2 virtual cores, it's still quite constrained
