@dansup hmm, premium domain? You're going to embed some sort of crypto Currency or payment method? 😬

@dansup Thanks for Pixelfed! Loving it so far. I have a question. I signed up on the Pixelfed.social instance, and tried to follow my Pixelfed account from within Mastadon. But, when I check it on my Following list, it shows as “pending,” as if it’s waiting for me to approve it on the Pixelfed side. I duplicated this behaviour on another instance (federated.photos). How do I get the follow to be confirmed, rather than pending? @dansup because it's freaking awesome <3 <3 as we're primarilly an #aiart community I'm encouring our users to https://pixel.artemai.art :3 Super pumped for the new https://pixelfed.org website and server directory. Once released, #pixelfed admins will be able to easily submit their instance to the new https://pixelfed.org from their admin dashboard! Hoping to ship this later this weekend, or next week 🚀 I think it's time to move https://pixelfed.social to its own dedicated server. It's currently hosted on a 16 GiB/8 vCPU Droplet and I can get a decent dedi from OVH for about the same price https://pixelfed.social is experiencing a surge in traffic that is causing our job queue to back up, we're working to speed things up again 😅

Working on the new https://pixelfed.org website tonight. We're migrating from a static html site to a custom CMS in order to support the server directory and other features. It's a lot of work, but I think it will be worth it 😉 #pixeldev #pixelfed

By default, DMs from accounts you don't follow are hidden away in the filtered/requests tab (unless disabled) I mean it's kind of nice that Pixelfed doesn't have push notifications and has privacy filters like this so you're not subjected to abuse/spam so easily as compared to other platforms but on the other hand you have to remember to check these every so often 😅 @dansup Would it make sense to show a count indicator next to Filtered? That way, more people can remember to check those every time (and only if) they're on the messages page, without receiving push notifications. It's unfortunate to see fedi apps, instances and projects come to an end. It really makes you appreciate those still around, show them some love once in a while, it could mean the world to them! The new https://pixelfed.org server directory I'm working on is pretty neat. Admins can easily update their listing via the admin dashboard. On the pixelfed.org side, updates will be manually approved before going live. The direct connection between instances and pixelfed.org will enable us to more strictly enforce our Privacy Pledge and keep listings up-to-date in near real time! #pixelfed @dansup The dev docs he linked are over my head. Is their federation compatible at all with ActivityPub or the rest of the fedi? Or did they build a different standard? It's probably either ads or some kind of cryptocurrency/token promotion. I have difficulty believing they are doing this platform for non-financial reasons. Working on the new https://pixelfed.org website, it’s so gorgeous! Can’t wait for y’all to see it, this is long overdue 😅

Now that I'm building my own mobile app for #pixelfed, I have a new found respect for fedi app devs. The temptation to refactor APIs in favour of my app or remove support for 3rd party apps like we see all the time outside of the fediverse doesn't exist. There is no incentive for me to limit 3rd party apps or clients. This is the power of the #fediverse and #freeSoftware Viva la revolución! |
@dansup Thanks for all your hard work! If there's any specific stuff you need that might be of use, such as testing or even funding, please let us know!!
I absolutely love using Pixelfed.
So many people are getting into the fediverse that they've even managed to break Smithereen in yet another unexpected way. It turns out MySQL has a limit on the number of simultaneously open connections and my server hit it yesterday. It was 150, I raised it to 1000.
@dansup does anyone know: is this for an upgrade? or is pixelfed.social also getting hit heavily (i hope its not more spam).
