Pixelfed request minute, send in your feature requests in the next minute and I’ll do my best to prioritize them! ⏱️ @dansup I doubt the spam detection/mitigation of Pixelfed will work for Mastodon unless they sit down and train every post It worked so well for @pixelfed because we've had a mechanism for classifying spam posts for years, so we could instantly train on years worth of posts. Anyways, best regards to them, it's not as easy as I make it look 😎 @dansup @pixelfed I'd love to read this part of the pixelfed codebase. Where can I start? https://github.com/pixelfed/pixelfed/blob/1a30e488f9ce182a3a47836c36aec2f78657ba8f/app/Jobs/AutospamPipeline/AutospamPretrainPipeline.php maybe? pixelfed will soon support user level domain/instance blocks, empowering each user to build their own space pixelfed.social will leave it up to each user wether or not they want to block threads, or other instances. We will still have server level blocks that users can’t bypass, but for pf.soc, threads will not be server level blocked! Well that's your choice. Does pixelfed not normally expect minimum standards of moderation from servers? Or is that the intent? That users be their own mod team? What if instead of pixelfed.social/dansup, it was dansup.pixelfed.social? I prefer the former, but the latter is possible! It’s on the list 🧾

@dansup not sure subdomains would be a good idea. There are plenty of possible usernames that could clash or make it very confusing or possibly even open up alleys for malicious actors, like www, media, downloads, web, app etc. It's not something I would roll out without a proper risk-assessment. @dansup there may be a bit of user confusion with the latter. Considering the format of providing your handle (@<username>@<domain>) is essentially one character difference. Fediverse is bad enough for onboarding that little things here may exacerbate the problem when discussing it with novice users. I will also second what other comments are alluding to around how there other confusion and conflicts with how people typically use subdomain (e.g., www, CMS, etc). Continually impressed by the @pixelfed spam detection system (Autospam) It keeps getting better with every detection (that leads to action), it was pretty much useless before I added the machine learning logic as most of them would work around the previous constraints I'm proud of the way I implemented it too, it doesn't get in the way, or is even noticeable in the moderation process! It simply trains the dataset based on the action you take, it's almost magic. I've been approached by a few people/platforms about partnering up for the official Pixelfed hosting service It would be nice to not have to worry about that, but at the same time, this could help fund sustainable development The PoC I wrote is pretty cool, everything is automated from checkout to logging in, and there is a basic dashboard for admins 🤔

@dansup Good luck, I hope you know what you're getting yourself into. I've been building our hosting platform for the last 2 years and there's still a sizeable backlog, not to mention all the sleepless nights. I thought this would be a lot easier when I started, as one always does. 😬 The new @pixelfed home feed logic is almost ready! This will enable hashtag follows, reblogs and more in your home feed, while providing an important performance boost. See right now, your home feed is generated by enumerating all accounts you follow and performing an expensive db query. This replaces the db queries with an in-memory list of status ids that are hydrated into an entity using other in-memory data. Shipping Soon! Zoom Zoom. 🚀 #pixeldev

Added search to the Servers page on https://fedidb.org! You can use the left and right arrow keys on your keyboard to paginate btw! (ActivityPub dev tools are in the works and the first ones should be ready this weekend) Always think the "Post published. OPEN" toast is going to say "5xx error" or some error Maybe a green background or something could better distinguish it @dansup On the fediverse, you kind of have to specify which software you are talking about, for all I know you could be posting from friedlica New android #pixelfedApp build shipping soon, switched to native stack navigator and it's much smoother (and no more white flashes)!

Introducing Sup, a revolution in AI by Pixelfed, a true digital companion for the era. It simply replies “Sup.” 08.23

@dansup I think that "sup." is kind of cool. Maybe you could use less "by pixelfed" or "fediverse" branding, I don't think they help when it comes to regular people, they might even be confusing for them.

@dansup that bothered me too.. how weird to not compare pixelfed to insta! it’s clearly because you don’t have enough reels 😂 |
@dansup
Do you still plan to open-source the pixelfed-app source code?
@dansup I know it’s late but how about cleaning up the onboarding screens on iOS a bit? Font sizes seem all over the place currently. Soo many different font sizes on one screen make it look super cluttered I think. ✌🏼
@dansup Ability to reset Import when it fails.
