Definitely not hypocritical. #meme #Mastodon #Poast #Pixelfed #Meta #threads #EugenRochko #EmbraceExtendExtinguish @Natanox https://erinkissane.com/meta-in-myanmar-full-series To make it abundantly clear: I do not think Eugen is acting with malevolent intentions. I do however strongly criticize the lack of communication and that what he's currently doing promotes more competition instead of cooperation (even if it's by accident), which the Fediverse should not have. The reason we're so nice to each other here is because most of us expect the other to be inherently good, or at least have good intentions even when they're angry. Competition alienates this culture. Which one would you use if you want a highly stable desktop device with snapshot capabilities, and why? Please RT in the #Linux bubble for more reach, I need to make this decision soon and got actually no idea. But having stuff like lsblk, gnome-system-monitor etc. showing it properly would be a bonus. #btrfs #zfs #filesystem #tech #techsupport #sysadmin Anonymous poll

@Natanox in almost all cases, you'll be better off just backing up stuff regularly with deja-dup / duplicity [included in @ubuntu LTS Desktop per default] or #rsync and use #btrfs since unlike #ext4 and #ZFS, it'll be less straining in terms of write operations [which are the limiting factor of SSDs] and you don't want to use "journal-less ext4" outside of embedded devices!... #ZFS is great for NASes and Server but there is a reason why not even #Canonical defaults to using it on #Desktop. @Natanox btrfs has matured a lot recently and at least one distro (openSUSE) already configures it with snapshotting out of the box
First #RaspberryPi earned a shitstorm by hiring an ex-cop specialized in hidden surveillance. Now they accept an investment by Sony for their propr. AI engine to be included in the next Pi. Which "only sends metadata to the cloud". Edit 2024: They went IPO. Here's a list of alternatives: - https://beagleboard.org/

@Natanox I like ASUS Tinker Board if you're still willing to add to the list: https://www.asus.com/us/networking-iot-servers/aiot-industrial-solutions/all-series/tinker-board/ Couldn't find any mention on a quick skim. Oops: "First #RaspberryPi earned a shitstorm by hiring an ex-cop specialized in hidden surveillance. Now they accept an investment by Sony for their propr. AI engine to be included in the next Pi. Which ๐"only sends metadata to the cloud".๐" Why are people even choosing to work with Amazon AWS or Microsoft Azure if you ain't hosting some million-users stuff? Those are big corporations that repeatedly take shits on you. F* them. @Natanox I support your comment. I'm an AWS certified solutions architect, but i use Linode. And that is exactly why. To all those brave souls who're trying out Linux on the desktop despite the elitist subculture inside the #Linux community: Kudos, thank you and all power to you. @Natanox I have been using Linux for decades and the elitism is tiresome. Now I just use pop_os and I don't care what the elitists think about that. I just want an easy time with minimal faffing. The four stages of Mastodon user:

Daily reminder that both NieR:Automata and NieR Replicant ver.1.22 are masterpieces of videogame art. You should play them and prepare lots of tissues. @Natanox@chaos.social yoko taro' story telling is nothing short of being genius in those games @Natanox@chaos.social I have yet to use all of my 48GB When your webspace provider silently communicates they're nerds to other nerds. GRS- makes really funny yuri panels :3 Suggest to check out their reddit. I just literally got stuck in the #Windows11 install wizard because they do not expect network drivers to be missing anymore. There was no way to tell him where they were - in fact they were right in the .iso that was mounted as SATA DVD drive. But in Microsofts infinite wisdom they removed the option to install #Windows without network AND removed the option to install the necessary drivers. So it will simply... stop doing anything. No button even worked anymore. Absolute garbage.

@Natanox interesting will they force same policies for enterprise distributions like LTSC?
@Natanox@chaos.social this was one of the controversies around the release of Win11, even in the beta period, that it was an online only install. I want someone to manufacture a genetical bioweapon (or would it rather be a cure?) that increases "minimal empathy" in humans to currently unnatural levels and lower aggression. So many people would drop dead and it wouldn't even be the actual fault of the retrovirus. @Natanox it's an interesting read. they tries to export everything including their managers and playbook but failed all around the world as they didn't consider any regional differences xd @Natanox On the other hand, Amazon was well established there when I lived there โถร WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE RICH TO EAT HEALTHY FOR FUCKS SAKE I HATE THIS WORLD I HATE EATING I HATE FOOD I HATE MYSELF AND MY FUCKING STOMACH 12
