I just started following @Bellingcat. If Putin is worried about it, it must be worth following it. Thanks for the tip! btw, you realise Elon is going to fuck up with Starlink and single handedly Kessler satellite deployment to LEO out of existence, then walk away with no real consequences

@davidgerard If that happens at just the wrong moment for somebody in Moscow, it's possible he'll walk out a window. @davidgerard Of course. The people running his administration are too stupid to know what a Kessler Syndrome means, and the people who could vote them out are too gullible to believe when itβs all blamed on trans people. @q Is there an active-active version of Frankfurt, for those who are into extreme high-availability? @q I think that when I visited I chanced upon Frankfurt am Coldspare-mΓΆglicherweise-nicht-einmal-initialisiert. (CafΓ© under ECB shut most of the day for example!)

@GossiTheDog Jesus Christ. I never thought they'd be so blunt. What's next, advertising electronic slaves? NVM, I don't want to give them ideas. @GossiTheDog This summarises the state of AI perfectly. It's not good enough to do your job. However, it *is* good enough to make your manager *think* it can do your job.

@NanoRaptor Clever retouching job there, but astute viewers will remember that the 2024βs paperclip hole is on the bottom of the unit.

@bruces That's a pretty sad statement on senior software engineers, but it is probably valid per hiring definitions. I hope everyone has drafted their emails to Terry the Non-Denoninational Gift Delivery Dragon. Back to occasionally featuring a few of my fave shots in the print store. This group of buildings is quite close to where we live in Εmori, Tokyo. And on certain days, it looks amazing. And on those days, one of the group looks just like a strip of film. In every tech organization, there are some people that seem to know every system, everybody, and every problem. They're super helpful, and save coworkers months of wasted efforts, by short-circuiting dead end paths, sharing efficient workflows, knowing which services already exist, and generally having great technical judgement. *None of those skills are quantifiable on performance reviews, other than peers saying thanks (if they're lucky). *Many underrepresented engineers fill these roles. |
@i0null ouch, also π’π’π’

"There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there always has been.
The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge."
