@EU_Commission this is absolutely bad. There's so much money wasted every day within the European Parliament. Maintaining a Mastodon server should be peanuts. Damnit!
🌿 Let's embrace the 4 R's: Reduce, reuse, recycle... and repair!
Today, the European Parliament adopted the 'Right to Repair' Directive. By promoting repairs both within and beyond the legal guarantee, it will soon mean:
🟢 Easier product fixes
🟢 Money saved
🟢 Less waste
By repairing and using our goods for longer, EU consumers can not only practice sustainable consumption but also save a significant amount of money in the process!

@EU_Commission why not also enforce the existence of nomadic lifestyles in all the EU? It is literally illegal for Roma people to exist in the way they traditionally have within the EU itself. That needs to change.
@EU_Commission yet nobody takes the fight to the world's most notorious terrorist, putin. Can;t have it both ways, treat him as a politician to excuse cowardice towards dealing with him and a terrorist with your opinions.
You are in control of the data you share. Full stop.
The #GDPR has put you in control of your personal data, including enshrining consent to its processing and the right to be forgotten.
As of January, the European Data Act will extend your rights to connected products by making it easy to access and move any data generated – whether it's about personal data or not.
On #DataProtectionDay, we ask you: What are the most important advancements for you? 👇
@EU_Commission none of these: instead I want stronger laws limiting the usage of data brokers & stricter terms for what "legitimate interest" means for cookies & third-parties: I regularly see websites with hundreds of "legitimate interest" "partners" – there's no way that's being responsible with my data.
Also making one-click opt-out of non-functional cookies mandatory: many sites lack this.
@EU_Commission "You are in control of the data you share. Full stop."
😂 Yeah, ehrm, not really. Data brokerage, Web tracking, manipulative cookie banners, opt-out features in smartphones, corporate social media deemed necessary to find jobs etc., scoring-bullshit like SCHUFA, TOS of almost unavoidable services ("Gatekeepers") that still collect data en mass and last but lot least YOU (with all yoir chatcontrol and total surveillance fantasies) completely and utterly invalidate your statement.
It will support investment and research facilities so #Europe can become an innovation powerhouse with a strong stake in the global market:
- Supporting technological capacity building and innovation
- Ensuring security of supply and resilience by attracting investments
- Establishing coordination with and across countries
This is a step forward in determining our own destiny.

What you just see of fast #fashion is not what it really is.
Fashion is one of the least sustainable industries worldwide.
We are creating a greener, more competitive textiles sector with the #EU Strategy for Sustainable and Circular Textiles by:
- tackling greenwashing,
- restricting the export of textile waste,
- discouraging the destruction of unsold or returned textiles,
- setting #design requirements to make them last longer,
- and more.

€ Euro banknotes are getting a new look! The time has come to choose the theme for their future design, and we want YOU to have a say. Which theme should be selected?
@EU_Commission I am a big fan of the EU, I really liked this survey as well the ideas for the new Euro bank notes, however, I was really disappointed in the end where I couldn’t pick my country as if it doesn’t matter. I am a bit worried that when the new bank notes are designed, their design will supposedly represent Europe as a whole but actually will focus only on a handful of countries and people in the rest of Europe find it disheartening and disappointing
@EU_Commission I was meh about most of these until I got to the birds. Birds!!!
I hope if this wins, the 500 euro banknote features the bird most common in all European capitals: the humble pigeon. You can call it a dove for marketing purposes.
We reached a new milestone in ensuring the openness of digital markets.
Last week, 7 companies notified us they qualify as 'Gatekeepers' under the Digital Market Act.
We will check their submission before designating them. They will have 6 months to comply with the #DMA and, among others, be unable to:
- lock in users in their ecosystem;
- decide which apps you need pre-installed or which app store to use;
- treat their own products and services more favourably.

@EU_Commission can we also get a common digital market? One that allows me in Brussels to access the contents of Portuguese public tv online? Or vice-versa?
@EU_Commission thanks for putting an to that annoying innovation in plugs and connectivity. I look forward to having this as our fixed standard for at least the next 100 years, because clearly, there is no further innovation to be had in this area.
@EU_Commission yeah, right now i have such problem with my (newer) laptop charger that i cant find replacement due to custom jack xD for a week i use my old af laptop xD
We contacted Nintendo to address the recurring problem with defective Switch controllers and they agreed to offer all consumers the right to repair, free of charge, even beyond the legal guarantee!
This will prevent the disposal of unrepaired controllers and unnecessary waste.
@EU_Commission that's their typical behavior for decades. They denied most of Babyn Yar bodies belong to Soviet times executions of 'wrong people', basically people who looked wrong for foreign occupyers like Arkadiy Golikov, they'd be killed. And there's been plenty of rapes and lootings too, foreign so called 'Bolscheviks' were not much different from Nazis and they persecuted Ukrainians for liberation struggle!
@EU_Commission Very sad. I think this particular paragraph in the article relates to a certain Social Media platform that thrives on this type of dynamic and knowingly perpetuates it - "Disinformation spreaders often use false and even contradictory narratives to distract from the clarity that a single well-researched and well-documented explanation can provide. The human mind is curious and attracted to scandals and rumours, searching for answers to the unexplained. So, the skilled manipulator keeps adding elements which attract attention and distract from the truth. The appearance of shifting and clashing stories is not accidental, but intended."

THE HAVE fleed the country , workers have left, the ones that forced to fight don't even bother to destroy damaged equipment or bring out their dead.
Have you ever needed to send money to someone urgently? 💸
Our new proposal aims to make payments in euros instant for anyone with a bank account in any EU or EEA country, at no extra cost compared to a regular money transfer.
The switch from "next day transfers" to "transfers in ten seconds" is comparable to the switch from mail to email.
