 Darn. I don't know if my laptop can handle this level. I'm dangerously close to the minimum system requirements to for this game! it needs at minimum 8mb of RAM (with 16 MB suggested), but this laptop my roommate fished out of the ewaste for me has a mere 16GB of RAM. I'm looking at a company hiring for techs to work on neat aerospace projects. they're a contractor doing stuff with GPS and calculating orbits and stuff! and they want you to know Ada. NOPE, EJECT, ABORT, NOT A GOOD JOB it's not about the language itself, mind you: Ada is a perfectly fine language, even if I don't know it.  @foone That's not even the half of it, there are multiple CPUs involved in just powering and bootstrapping the main CPU before we even get into Intel ME etc. In a post-apocalyptic situation, the main reason we'll all be using 6502s/Z80s won't be radiation, it'll be because we physically can't bootstrap anything more recent.  I'm hiding here from Tumblr. I made a joke* there, and now in response people are trying to send me links to slavoj zizek clone fucking. * this is a type of humorous trick people do on other social medias. I know y'all don't get or understand them here, but they're a big thing elsewhere. When I mentioned mastodon on Tumblr, someone asked what it was. Someone else (Tumblr user flexplate) answered "It's like Twitter but for people who know how to troubleshoot Linux printer drivers." Which is mean but not entirely untrue

  One of my most ingenious hacks in its simplicity was to make a cunty dell laptop power plug that was using third rail as a shitty "buy my overpriced proprietary power supply" rail. As far as I could tell, it was not drawing any current, it was just a lame "security check". Hacked with a single resistor. ugh. I picked up a shitty NUC from ewaste and it had a label on it for an AI company.

Keyboard idea: Pressing that button makes the computer play Doom. The important part is that the computer doesn't need to: to play Doom. It works by typing in Doom and then playing it, like you were reading it out of a 1980s 8-bit computer magazine. The tricky part is making it cross platform. I would want it to work on Windows, Mac, and Linux, of course. Someone hacked into my computer and made it launch 500 copies of DOSBox. That's right. It's a DOS attack.

The fuckers went ahead and pre-canceled my insurance so the donated money I was going to use for prescriptions is not not enough to cover even the first two. Fuck the US health system. That new pico is neat. A chip that can change architectures? And even, technically, run as two heterogeneous cores? Neat! Can you add x86 to the pico3? Thanks.

 good lord. I pulled a microSD card out of a Raspi inside an IoT product and it appears they had some developer use a raspi to develop/test some software, and then they just yanked the SD card out of that machine and duped it on to all of their deployed products. it's got .bash_history of the development process! there's git checkouts of private repos! WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS?

 @foone Maybe they took this idea and decided to skip the part where you have to configure Docker.  Given all the icons on a microsd card I expect it's only a matter of time until they start claiming to be Mozilla too, like a user agent  @foone I got a couple of A2 Canvas Go cards from Kingston. With all the icons the cards look like souped up rally cars, and I don't understand at least half of them. I don't care as long as they work on my SBCs, and they are snappy as roadrunner when compared to other, older microSD cards I have. I got what I wanted to get, so I'm happy. |
