Darn. I don't know if my laptop can handle this level. I'm dangerously close to the minimum system requirements to for this game!

it needs at minimum 8mb of RAM (with 16 MB suggested), but this laptop my roommate fished out of the ewaste for me has a mere 16GB of RAM.

Heroes of Might and Magic II screenshot, showing a message from the mapmaper, reading:

PLAYERS PLEASE NOTE!
"Colossal Cavern" is an extra-large, complex map with lots of animations and events. Smaller Windows-95 configurations may encounter crashes during play, so save often. You can sometimes get past them by turning off your music and sound, or by playing under DOS. I'm sorry about this, but the problem seems to be in the operating system, not the map or the game -- Charles Watkins

@foone Hopefully you're playing under DOS and not Windows-95!

@foone yeah, just be sure to turn off the music, those extra 8 gigs might be strained. ☠️

@foone wait. Wait. Is this a Colossal Caverns map for Interplay’s Castles (1990 or thereabouts)???

@foone Reminds me of when this happened to me

Installation screen for Heroes of Might and Magic III Complete. A warning dialog box says: "Setup has detected that you have 4GB of memory available on your system. The game requires 32MB to run. The game may run sluggishly, become usntable, or fail to run at all."
