I want to write about Web 3 being a total misdirection but it feels like such a chore explaining why.

@Gargron I remember seeing activitypub video where they were referring to the fediverse as either web 3 or 4.

@Gargron https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-3008 for when you wish to start fearing the IKEA store. There are some really amazing designs for the iPad version of our official app in the pipeline, but I'm afraid some scheduling conflicts in engineering mean they won't be implemented for the next few weeks. While the app is iPad-ready in a general sense, since the iPad version requires separate App Store screenshots it makes sense in my view to wait until all the screens are implemented properly to avoid having to re-do the screenshots.  @Gargron Getting good screenshots is like the third hardest part of iOS development, I swear.

@Gargron I've been using a cast iron pan for 2 or 3 years, and have found it to be a better "non-stick" pan, given time to season, than the ones claiming to be that. No bits of non-stick stuff coming off either.

 @Gargron are you this bothered by all types of NFTs, or just the "jpeg" type? I'm wondering if you don't see any value in an decentralized, permissionless naming system (e.g, https://ens.domains/, https://unstoppabledomains.com/) which could be beneficial for the Fediverse. For instance, it would solve identity and account portability.

 I will need to do some database maintenance in, let's say, 15 minutes from now. There will be some downtime but I'll try to keep it as short as possible. I don't have a problem with most emoji short codes, but: 😄 smile bothers me a lot.

 @Gargron ‘slightly smiling face’ may or may not be the weirdest description of an emoji, but it is the weirdest description of one that I see on a regular basis, typically in any toast notification I get with the description rather than the actual image. I'm semi-seriously convinced the production team put BBQ sauce on Zuckerberg's shelf on purpose to get more people to talk about Meta

@Gargron :gnu: :goose_honk: Good work :solidarity: this also shows the advantage of copyleft licences like the :gnu: GPL over permissive ones like BSD and MIT, this kind of action would not be possible under such permissive open source licences.

@Gargron Kinda weird that they didn't just decide to adopt ActivityPub (which IIRC Jack Dorsey explicitly mentioned as an option when Bluesky was announced!) after *two years* of working on the topic. Assuming, of course, they're serious about the idea in the first place...
